Hey friends! I saw this place called Pocha In A Forest a few days ago on Facebook and was intrigued by the concept, so I decided to head down for a visit on a Friday night. Pocha In A Forest is located near Dhoby Gaut MRT or Prinsep St. We were initially there around 8pm but the waiting list was super full and the staff told us we may have to wait for an hour plus, so we decided to just go somewhere else for dinner and come back for some drinks later on.

And yes, I know it says 'food review' in the title, but this isn't really a food review since we didn't eat here - it's more like a drinks review!

If you can't tell by now, Pocha In A Forest is a Korean restaurant and its main selling point is the giant rent tent, or pojangmacha stall that transports you into your famous Korean drama. They are also known for their makgeolli which is Korean rice wine.

We didn't get to sit inside the dreamy pojangmacha stall since there are limited seats, but we got a table right in front of it, which was close enough!

The makgeolli flavour we got was blueberry and it cost S$24 for a jug. My boyfriend and I decided to share the jug since we weren't planning on getting wasted and just wanted a chill drink!

When the makgeolli was served, it came with these two empty bowls. At first, we were quite confused, and our uncultured asses immediately Googled how to drink makgeolli. So you're supposed to pour the drink into the bowl and drink it like that!

The makgeolli is very bearable for people who can hold their alcohol, and we barely felt anything until the last two bowls. It was extremely easy to drink and almost felt like a dessert! The alcohol hit quite late as well and we only felt a little drowsy on the bus back home.

There are also snacks served here, as well as mains such as kimbap and kimchi pancakes. You can also check out the selection of Korean snacks that they have at S$4 each!

We had a unique experience at Pocha In A Forest, and I honestly think this place will be here for a long time. The drinks are unique and the ambience is nice. Honestly, the female staff are not the friendliest, but the one serving us was very nice and we appreciate her service! I can see myself bringing friends over for a drink, or to grab a few Korean bites to satisfy our cravings.

If you want to visit, my only recommendation is this - come on a weekday night instead!
