Blu Kouzina @ Siglap: Authentic Greek Food Review
Hey friends! It's the last day to eat out in groups of five. SO SAD! My boyfriend and I hurried to make a reservation for us and his parents at this Greek restaurant called Blu Kouzina. Blu Kouzina actually has two outlets - one at Dempsey and one at Siglap, but the Siglap outlet is new.

It was so difficult to make a reservation at Blu Kouzina as they are often fully packed, at least for the next two or three days. They also rarely accept walk-ins during peak hours. What's worse, it is almost impossible to get a call through on the weekends. To make the reservation, my boyfriend and I actually dropped by the restaurant and spoke to their staff, who told us that they only had one 2pm slot for lunch. We gladly took it!

Blu Kouzina looks gorgeous and exudes Santorini vibes, which is nice considering I haven't travelled in so long and have major wanderlust. There are two different vibes in this one restaurant - one side which is blue like what you'd see in the Mamma Mia! movies, and another section which has this farmhouse, cozy style.

Their menu is huge and there are so many items. Since their last order was at 2.30pm, we had to rush through the ordering process.
For starters, we ordered a Hummus Dip (S$15.80) and Grilled Pita (S$7.80). Hummus is basically chickpea mash, and this one was smooth with a subtle sweetness.

It went really well with the Grilled Pita which was soft and savoury, but not too salty since it was sprinkled with only a little bit of sea salt.

The combination of the Hummus Dip and Grilled Pita was so delicious and we had to stop ourselves from ordering more.

We also got some mains to share, which was the Kotopoulo Kalamaki (S$23.80), Souvlaki Me Pita (S$23.80), Beef Pastitsio (S$32.80), and Lamb Mousaka (S$30.80).
The Kotopoulo Kalamaki was a grilled organic chicken skewer served with tomatoes, onion, and pita. The portion of the skewer was decent and made for a filling meal especially with the pita as sides. The meat was grilled lightly but had tons of flavour, and while the texture of the chicken was not super soft, it was tender enough so I didn't have to chew until my cheeks burned.

The Souvlaki Me Pita was a wrap with grilled beef, fresh tomatoes, onions, Tzatziki sauce, and fries as sides. The pita itself was humongous and it was absolutely delicious! It was like eating a very filling and sinful sandwich, but the good news is that the ingredients are not that all unhealthy. There was an ample amount of sauce which made the dish creamy, and I also liked the crispy fries.

We made the mistake of ordering two very similar dishes, which were the Beef Pastitsio and Lamb Mousaka. Think of the Beef Pastitsio as baked rice but replace the rice with Greek macaroni. The cheese was great, the sauce was great, and the texture of the entire dish was soft. The taste of the beef was strong, but oddly enough it did not make us feel jelak at all.

The Lamb Mousaka was basically lasagna (according to the staff), and the mutton was sweet. I also appreciate how there was a lot of cheese and the minced lamb had lots of flavours.

The tomato and Bechamel sauce added hints of sweetness to it too. I especially loved the eggplant and potato slices inside.

I rate the food and dining experience here at Blu Kouzina an 8.5/10. My main complaint is that the food is really expensive, and also that it's just so hard to get seats here! But despite the hefty price tag, the food is definitely worth the try.
