ZCOOP: Myth Or Truth: 5 Signs That He’s Into You

by - April 25, 2017

So you’ve got your eye on this guy, but he seems horribly clueless about how you feel. To confirm if the feelings are mutual, you’ve spent the whole night looking up ‘Does he like me’ and ‘Signs if he’s interested’ on Google. Most people will tell you the same thing: he’s interested if he smiles at you, makes eye contact or laughs at your jokes.

There’s just one problem with all of this: more often that not we get these signs even when a guy is NOT interested. It’s exasperating to feel unsure if you should make a move or risk being turned down. For the sake of every girl who is heavily crushing, here are five myths that people believe a guy will do if he’s into you.

MYTH 1: HE WILL APPROACH YOU

TRUTH: Women tend to overestimate male confidence and assume that they find it easy to approach women. After all, the guy’s supposed to make the first move, right?

Wrong.

In fact, men find it difficult to approach women who they see as a potential love interest, the reason being that he faces a risk of being rejected. It was also found that men find it harder to stay focused while being in the company of women they find attractive. With this said, it makes sense that guys will avoid approaching someone they like directly, and wait until he’s completely sure of her feelings before he makes a move.

MYTH 2: HIS FRIENDS WILL KNOW

TRUTH: Unless he’s completely sure that you’re also into him (or just being overconfident), most guys tend to keep their crushes low-key. Unlike men, women are more likely to tell close friends about their crushes or dating lives. On the other hand, men tend to keep to themselves and only open up about their dating lives if they’re really serious about pursuing someone, or if they’re already in a stable relationship.

MYTH 3: HE WILL MAINTAIN EYE CONTACT

Body language is definitely a real thing, but not all attraction cues are 100% accurate. According to one of our male readers (who prefers to remain anonymous), most guys will be too shy to look at a pretty girl in the eye, or someone he has romantic feelings for. Unless your crush has sky-high confidence, he will probably choose to steal glances at you every now and then instead of making direct eye contact.

While eye contact does equal interest for some, it may also mean that he’s just comfortable with you. Friend-zone!!!!!!!!!!

MYTH 4: HE WILL BE SUPER FRIENDLY AND CONFIDENT AROUND YOU

Truth is, sometimes a guy may just be trying to be your friend and nothing more. Girls often misunderstand that guys will appear confident and outgoing around someone he’s interested in, but it’s usually the opposite. While this also depends on personality, most men will behave nervously and awkward around you if they like you, and appear friendlier to those they aren’t interested in.

Confusing, I know.

MYTH 5: HE WILL LIKE ALL YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS

The Internet is an amazing place, and flirting over social sites like Snapchat and Instagram have since become a trend among millennials. So you and your crush are friends on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat and he likes most of your selfies. Does this mean he’s interested?

The truth is, do we actually think twice before liking someone’s picture? I don’t know about you but I usually go on a liking-spree every now and then, aimlessly double-tapping through my feed because I have nothing better to do.

While Instagram may prove to be a less reliable platform to detect flirtatious behavior, Snapchat is definitely the King of social media flirting. If your crush is constantly sending you selfies or videos of his dog… you’re in luck because chances are he’s trying to impress you.
