BTS Meal Singapore Super Honest Food Review
However, I used to be a K-pop fan when I was 14 (??) and was super into a few boy groups like Big Bang and Exo so I understand how it's like to be a fan, and most importantly I know how much money is spent on buying K-pop merchandise and albums. Personally, I think I've spent thousands of dollars on K-pop merch, and seriously why did I have to stan Exo out of all the bands?? They had 12 people and can you imagine the merchandise I had to buy, for like, each member??
With this said, I understand when big brands collab with your favourite idol groups and the first instinct would be to buy everything off the shelves. So I can totally understand the hype around the BTS Meal, and when I found out it was coming to Singapore, I immediately kept tabs. Funny thing was I forgot the exact date they were launching, so when they did launch I was actually at Toast Box minding my own business when I saw the pop-up notification on foodpanda. I immediately placed an order around 11.10am and the BTS Meal was delivered to me within 20 minutes!
Honestly I did not know what to expect. When I heard the word 'meal', I thought that it was going to be a full-on meal like with a burger and fries and all that, so when I saw on the foodpanda app that it was just nuggets with large-sized fries and a large-sized drink, I was like, ha??????
But anyway, I was still excited when the BTS Meal was here. At first glance upon taking everything out of the McDonald's paper bag - which didn't have BTS purple packaging, sian - it was just a lot of purple. A nice purple!
So apparently there are two major selling points of this meal which is the packaging and the special sauces - Sweet Chili and Cajun. So which one is better? Both have a little bit of spiciness and the texture is smooth like butter (pun intended), but I personally loved the Sweet Chili better. The Sweet Chili tasted like Thai chili sauce but on the sweeter side, and had this zestiness that grew on me.
The Cajun was also good and reminded me of this spicy, creamy cheese sauce I used to have at Genki Sushi - a little like hot mustard. I liked it, but felt that it was a bit jelak after a while. On the other hand, the Sweet Chili was really easy to eat!
My boyfriend also tried the BTS Meal and he preferred the Cajun sauce. So I guess it really depends on your preference for food! There's no such thing as better, just "which do you like better?".
So after trying the sauces and admiring the lovely purple packaging, we finally have to answer the question - is the BTS Meal worth the S$8.90?
Okay so please don't come after me, but I really wish that there were more than just the sauces! The sauces were really good, so can you imagine if they had a whole BTS burger or BTS special fries? I understand that there should be tons of reasons why they went with just the sauce (such as the cost), but a girl can dream! One day, maybe one day we'll get a BTS burger! I'd pay lots for that.
Also in case you're wondering if I kept the packaging, I definitely did! C'mon, people are selling these paper thingies for a fortune on Carousell! But unlike these ambitious merchants, I intend to keep them to myself or maybe make them into a BTS lingerie set like this creative human.
Thanks for reading, and see you next post!
