If you've ever worked with me, you'd know that I have a deep love for ban mian, particularly Malaysian ban mian, and even more specifically, KL ban mian. One of my go-to spots for lunch on a weekday, especially when I need a pick-me-up from Monday blues, is Prince Noodles, conveniently located near my office.

At Prince Noodles, you have three noodle options to choose from: Handmade Ban Mian, Handmade You Mian, and Handmade Mee Hoon Kueh. They offer these noodles both dry and in soup, priced from S$6. My personal favourite is their Dry Ban Mian, because the noodles are thick and the gravy is incredibly savoury.

The bowl comes packed with a delightful mix of minced meat, ikan bilis, and mani cai, all generously portioned. The minced meat is particularly delicious—well-seasoned and chunky. I also enjoy the crunchiness of the ikan bilis. For an extra treat, I highly recommend adding an onsen egg to your noodles.

Their chili is fantastic—extraordinarily spicy with a rich, garlicky flavour that enhances the overall dish. Even if you are a mala da la person, I recommend going easy on the chilli.

Sometimes, I also try their Dry Mee Hoon Kueh. Though the portions may be slightly smaller for the same price, perhaps due to its more intricate preparation, the mee hoon kueh itself is just right.

The skin is not too thick, allowing for a satisfyingly chewy texture.

In addition to their delicious noodles, Prince Noodles also offers a selection of drinks, including some well-known Malaysian brands that I grew up with. Prices for drinks start at S$1 for canned drinks and go up for bottled options.

The only downside to Prince Noodles is that it's always packed with customers, making it difficult to find seating. It's often better to order for takeaway and enjoy your meal at home. However, they do have an arrangement with the kopitiam outside, allowing Prince Noodles patrons to dine there. You simply need to return your cutlery and tray to Prince Noodles after finishing your meal. If you have any questions, feel free to ask the staff!

IMO, Prince Noodles serves some of the best dry ban mian in Singapore, making it my absolute favourite ban mian stall in Singapore. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend giving it a go!
