Joséphine @ Amoy St: French Restaurant & Bar Food Review
We made a reservation a few weeks in advance and went down on a weekend for brunch. The interior of the restaurant is really pretty and for a moment, it's like you've teleported to another city in France.
While we were there, we found out that there was a brunch special going on where you could get free-flow cocktails and oysters! Taking a quick look around us, we realised that most of the customers here had alcohol and oysters on their table. My boyfriend was feeling super FOMO and wanted to try it out too, so that's how we ended up getting the Josephine Free Flow Cocktails & Prosecco Brunch (S$25) and the Josephine Free Flow Cocktails & Oysters Brunch (S$35). The free-flow drinks promo entitled us to a selection of Prosecco, Mimosa, and Bellini for 90 minutes.
I didn't try the oysters as I'm not really a fan of oysters in general, but my boyfriend loved them. According to him, the oysters did not have a strong fishy smell and tasted extremely fresh. I've never seen someone have so many oysters in a short period of time!
We also ordered some pasta - the Burratina (S$21) and Pesto (S$18). The Burratina was superb and the burrata was so soft and fluffy! It looks normal when served, but the pasta was very strong and striking.
On the other hand, the pesto was just so-so. It came with spaghetti pasta, cherry tomatoes, garlic, and homemade pesto. The taste of the pesto was quite muted, but it could have been because we tasted the Burratina's stronger flavours first!
For dessert, we got the Le Fondant (S$14) which had Valrhona chocolate and a mini magnum stuffed into it. This was so so good and definitely hit my sweetness quota for the week.

The restaurant actually has two floors and the upstairs houses an outdoor patio as well. However, the patio was closed for dining when we were there. I did manage to take some nice pictures there though!
The general indoor dining area on the second level was also very cosy and dimly lit. This area looked more like a bar relative to downstairs which resembled more of a restaurant. If you want more privacy with your date away from the noisiness of semi-drunk customers, the upstairs would be a good place to dine at.
We loved the experience here at Joséphine so much that we immediately made another reservation for a later date. We actually came here quite late in the afternoon around 2.30pm, so we did not get the full 90 minutes for the free-flow cocktails and oysters since it ends at 3.30pm. Doesn't matter though, since we can't wait for the next time when we come again.
The staff were also incredibly warm and welcoming and made us feel like we're long-time customers. So if you're looking for a French restaurant with a nice ambience, decent prices, delicious food, and free-flow drinks, this is definitely the place for you.
See you next post!
