Hey, Faithfuls! Welcome to another Staycay Queen blog series. Today's review will be on the newly-renovated PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay. Super excited to review this place because it's one of the hottest staycation spots right now for couples and families. We booked two rooms during this stay - the Lifestyle Room and Signature Marina Bay Suite.

The hotel's USP has to be their gorgeous lobby.  The hotel is inspired by greenery and nature, and when you step into it, it's like you're entering a beautiful garden. You could literally hear birds chirping as well, as there are birdcages hanging all around.

We requested an early check-in on Saturday, and it was a good thing we did. We were able to have a relatively fast check-in for our Lifestyle Room and managed to beat the swarming crowd which arrived at 3pm. The lobby was crowded with hotel guests and people who were attending a wedding upstairs. Babies were crying everywhere, and children were running around.

We were very lucky to get a high floor which was on level 19. The lobby looked even more amazing from the top down.

So here's a peek into our gorgeous Lifestyle Room! The room was a little smaller than I thought it would be, probably due to the layout. Upon entering the room, we passed a narrow walkway to our king-sized bed which looks ultra-comfy. In case you're wondering, we paid about S$380/night for the Lifestyle Room.

My favourite part of the room was the daybed at the bay window. We spent a lot of time here reading, doing some work, or just looking at the city scenery. A small door beside the bay window opened out into the balcony.

A hotel room is never complete without coffee-making facilities, so we were really glad to see the Nespresso machine! Our room also came equipped with an iron and ironing board, bathrobes, in-room safe, high-speed internet access, and a TV with local and cable channels.

Our marble bathroom had a nice bathtub, bidet toilet, and shower, and was replete with eco-friendly and biodegradable bath amenities. It even had premium filtered drinking water!

Unfortunately, our second room was not ready and we had to wait another hour past check-in time for it. I guess the guests the previous night must have made a big mess...

While waiting for our room to be ready, we decided to go and enjoy our Exclusive COLLECTION Club Lounge Privileges. We were entitled to this as guests who booked the suites! Perks included access to the COLLECTION Club Lounge at level 5, where we got to enjoy all-day refreshments.

We were also able to enjoy an afternoon tea session for two from 2.30pm-4pm. It was basically a free-flow high tea buffet, but due to Covid-19, we had to be served by the staff.

I found the savoury items to be so-so, but the sweet desserts were quite delicious! We could come down for this high tea session every day during our stay, and the menu items for each day were different.

Our Singapore Marina Bay Suite was finally ready around 4.30pm. It was located on level 20. This S$790/night room was thrice the size of our Lifestyle Room and had a spacious, separate living area that opened up into the bedroom with a king-sized bed. The room had two TVs - one in the bedroom and one in the living area.

The living area had a sofa, dining table, and coffee table with a Nespresso coffee machine and TWG Tea.

There was also a comfy workspace with a Herman Miller ergonomic chair. I was quite excited to try the branded chair at first, but in my opinion, it wasn't that comfortable!

The Singapore Marina Bay Suite bathroom was slightly bigger than the Lifestyle Room's, but also with a separate shower stall and deep bathtub. I always appreciate a bigger bathroom as it is much more comfortable to do your business. Unfortunately during our stay, our toilet was clogged a few times and we had to call someone to come and fix it for us.

My favourite part of the suite was the vanity which had a large mirror, nice lightning, and a Dyson hair dryer! Yes, I've never used a Dyson hair dryer in my life so I was super excited to use this.

We also had a large private balcony, and the view was spectacular! Seriously looks like i jumped into my screensaver.

After checking out our suite, it was around time to head down for some evening cocktails or hors d’oeuvres at the lounge. Complimentary evening cocktails were available every day during our stay from 6pm-8pm and came with light bites as well.

I got myself a Negroni while my boyfriend got a Mimosa. We were really living the life!

Just when we thought that was all to be served, the waiter came with more desserts in his hand. I actually liked the hors d’oeuvres desserts more than the high tea.

After the food was digested and the alcohol left our cheeks, we decided to hit the fitness studio. The gym was large and you could access it using your key card. It was also decked in floor-to-ceiling glass windows so kaypoh aunties could peer in and check you out.

Right beside the gym was a spin cycle studio, and it looked really cool! We didn't see anyone use it during our stay, but we did see some guests engaging in a HIIT session at the workout room beside it.

After sweating it out, we went to the swimming pool. We actually visited the swimming pool twice - once in the afternoon to suntan, and once at night so we could see the pool's glowing lights.

If you don't know what 'glowing lights' I'm talking about, this is what I mean!

Our stay also came with a daily buffet breakfast at Peppermint from 7.30am-10.30am. It was crowded every morning so we had to come down early to get a seat. Although we came down late on the second morning, it so happened that there were some seats in these birdcage pavilions soooooo we sat in them!

We loved sitting in the birdcage pavilion as it was nice, quiet, and away from the crowd. It was like we had our own little space.

The breakfast buffet was not bad - the food is a hit or miss. There were common breakfast foods such as scrambled eggs and sausages, as well as porridge, hashbrowns, and ham. I personally liked the dim sum the most.

The Peppermint restaurant also has food for lunch and dinner, and we basically had all three meals there. For dinner, we called room service. The dishes we got were the Chicken Salami And Pineapple Pizza (S$24), Singapore Lobster Laksa (S$36), and Spicy Prawn Aglio Olio (S$26). The lobster laksa was fantastic, but boy, it was expensive!

I enjoyed our staycation at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay because of the many perks that we got to enjoy, which made it a special stay. Of course, there were a few parts of the stay that were not very pleasant; for example, the floors can be thin and you could hear kids running around upstairs at 2am. It's also very noisy most of the time since it's family-oriented, so kids are everywhere at the pool, the restaurants, and the lobby. There was also lots of construction going on while we were there, like heavy drilling and knocking. If you're hoping for a quiet, romantic staycation with bae, I don't think this is the best place to visit.

But as you know, it doesn't take much for me to like a staycation, and I was happy enough with the rooms and the free food. I guess you can always try to book a staycation here during non-peak periods for a more enjoyable time!

That's all for today, see you next post!
