Hey friends! If you love pasta, you've come to the right place. My boyfriend and I recently visited this pasta restaurant called Pasta Bar, and if you're wondering: "Huh? You mean like a bar selling pasta?" you're absolutely right. Pasta Bar is located at Keong Saik and is known for its super high quality and unique pasta. Also, the pasta is handmade daily!

Pasta Bar is in high demand and when we wanted to make a reservation via their website, we found out that they were fully booked at least for the next three weeks. So yes, we waited super long to come and eat here and had really high expectations.

Stepping into Pasta Bar, you immediately feel as if you've been transported to Italy, or at least, somewhere not in Singapore. The whole place was dimly lit and the brightest area in the restaurant was the kitchen bar where you could see the chefs busily whipping up delicious meals. Luckily for us, we managed to get a seat at the bar and got to witness all the fun things go down!

One thing that was really interesting is that the chefs worked like a Hell's Kitchen team. You could hear them shouting out orders, updating each other on the minutes, and so on. It was really cool!

The waiter came up to us - this really friendly guy with an infectious smile - and asked us if we would like to order. We weren't really sure what to get, so he helped offer some recommendations. We were also served some complimentary sourdough bread!

We got the Seared Hokkaido Scallops (S$36) for starters, which came with sweet corn puree, crispy parma ham, and celeriac slaw. The puree was delicious - very sweet and creamy and paired beautifully with the chewy scallops. I would have liked the scallops to be a little softer, but I did love how they were torched to perfection.

Being a beef lover, my boyfriend got the Tagliatelle (S$32) which was basically a 24-hour beef ragu with Parmigiano. The pasta was smothered in shredded cheese and the beef ragu was so rich and flavourful. tagliatelle itself was thick and firm and extremely filling.

I got the Ciriole Carbonara (S$30) with guanciale, pecorino, egg, and black pepper. OMG. This dish was so good. There are many reviews about this pasta online talking about how authentic their carbonara tasted, and although I've never been to Italy, this was what I would expect 'authentic' carbonara to taste like. The cream wasn't overbearing and the pecorino gave it an extra savouriness. I especially appreciated how the guanciale wasn't salty at all.

For dessert, we got the Torta Barozzi (S$14) which was a Valrhona dark chocolate cake with balsamic, almond, cherry, and vanilla ice cream. My boyfriend and I agreed that this was one of the best desserts we've ever tasted. The cake was rich, soft, and not overly sweet, and the textures of the different ingredients worked well together. It was the perfect dessert to end the night with.

The pasta here is fantastic and according to my boyfriend who has tried 'real' pasta before - is easily one of the most authentic pastas in Singapore. The prices are high (*cough* scallops *cough*) but the food is quite filling so you will be leaving the restaurant with a bulging belly. The whole environment at Pasta Bar is also very pleasant as the staff are really friendly and it's interesting to see the chefs at work. It did take quite awhile for our pastas to come, but when they did arrive, they were fantastic.

That's all for today's post, so thank you all for reading and see you next post!
