New Conveyor Belt Sushi Restaurant In Singapore: Sushiro Orchard Review!

by - January 02, 2020

Conveyor belt sushi restaurants are my biggest guilty pleasure, and I've tried almost all of them - Sushi Express, Genki Sushi, Sushi King, Sushi Tei, Sake Sushi, Ichiban Sushi...you name it, I tried it.

Sushiro is relatively new in Singapore and opened late last year, but they are a big name in the Kaiten Sushi industry. They have two outlets, one at Tiong Bahru Plaza and another at Shaw House, Orchard. Being such a popular chain, you'd think that Sushiro would be swarming with people; but when we went there (during dinner time some more) we were surprised that there weren't many customers!

Maybe it's because of COVID-19, but another reason may be because most people don't know about them yet.

So today I'll be sharing my experience dining at Sushiro, Shaw House! If you haven't eaten, you'd probably want to grab a bite before logging back on because this blog post is going to give you that foodgasm you never had.

The Interior
Sushiro looks like a regular conveyor belt restaurant. The one at Orchard looked puny, compared to its massive counterpart at Tiong Bahru. We made a reservation beforehand, and the counter lady taught us how to use the iPad to order our food.

Sushiro's concept is a cross between Genki Sushi and Sushi Express. The two-tiered system allows you to pick food off the lower conveyor belt, while the top one delivers a la carte orders to your table. So exciting!

The Menu

Sushiro has over 100 items on their menu! 90 of them are sushi dishes priced at S$2.20, S$3.20, and S$4.80. It's a pity that they don't sell sashimi slices on its own though, but you'd still be able to get your sashimi fill with sushi topped with tuna, salmon, and yellowfin.

The non-sushi dishes include chawanmushi with scallop, mini ramen bowls, as well as desserts like matcha parfait and cream buns - my favourite!

You can get unlimited refills at S$3.50 per pax. The choice of drinks include the typical can drinks such as Heaven & Earth or Coca Cola. However, I prefer going with simple hot green tea when I eat my sushi!

Favourite dishes

Sushiro has a lot of unique dishes, so we chose some of our favourite for your guilty pleasure!

1. Tuna
I can't remember how many servings of tuna we ordered. I just know it was a lot. I bet you can tell which one is the normal tuna and which one is the fatty tuna! (I don't know why but the slim tuna looks a little like salmon LOL. It looks redder IRL!)

2. MORE TUNA
Love more tuna? There are also other tuna options to choose from!

3. The basics

Inari and tamago are the must-eats at a sushi restaurant.
4. Cooked delights
Cooked sushi is nice too! I loved the broiled fatty salmon and broiled salmon with basil sauce!

5. Sashimi and more sashimi
There are so many varieties to choose from that you start to think they all look alike at some point. The yellowtail and albacore tuna were heavenly though.

6. Unique sushi
Ever heard of sea urchin & roaster beef tuna? Now you have! The scallop was so soft too.

7. Salmon
And let's not forget our favourite sashimi - salmon! The premium salmon gunkai was bomb.
