Omote Thomson Plaza Food Delivery Review
I previously wrote a review of my dining experience at Omote Thomson Plaza, which is one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Singapore. Loyal fans would know they a few years back, they were known as Sushiro before they rebranded! While I haven't been able to go back and dine in due to the Circuit Breaker, my boyfriend and I have been ordering in their food every now and then.
For those of you loyal Omote customers, this may be a great surprise for you. Yes, Omote does offer delivery services with a flat delivery fee of $5, and no minimum spend! Unfortunately, they don't deliver islandwide. To see if you qualify for Omote delivery, you check refer to the listed starting postal codes on the Omote Facebook page.
Also small tip: personally, I feel like the portion for takeaway and delivery tends to be larger. When you dine in, the bowls are smaller compared to the takeaway boxes. So if you want a larger serving, just dabao!
If they don't deliver to you, you can still takeaway or try ordering from Deliveroo. For drive-thru and takeaway, you can call +65 9450 1020, and for orders or pre-orders, you can call +65 9452 1521. You can also contact them via WhatsApp. I really recommend pre-ordering to avoid the queue if you're opting for takeaway, because they're still very popular despite the Circuit Breaker.
Do take note that the opening hours for Omote is 11.30am-2.30pm, 5.30pm-8.30pm. They are closed on Tuesdays.
In regards to ordering food that is raw such as sushi, I know that some people may be quite skeptical and wonder if the quality of food would be different compared to dining in. Hence, I thought that it'd be good to write a review on my delivery experience with Omote, and share my thoughts about it.
Warning: this post will make you salivate excessively.
It's a bit difficult to find Omote's menu, so the best way to get your hands on it is to call or text Omote. But just to make things easier for you, I've included screenshots of the PDF menu wayyyyy at the bottom of this blog post.
On the other hand, they also offer delivery through Deliveroo, so you can check out the menu there as well. With over 14 sushi bowls at Omote, you'll be spoilt for choice.
Here's what we ordered:
Tamago Mentai Chirashi (x1) - $19.80
Upsized Chirashi (x1) - $18.80
Garlic Yakiniku Don (x1) - $18.80
Omote Favourite Sushi Set (x1) - $30
Let's jump into the food reviews!
The Tamago Mentai Chirashi is my favourite Chirashi of all time - and also a customer favourite! I've tried a lot of Omote's sushi bowls, but this has always been my heart's and stomach's number 1. As always, Omote's serving is generous, and the toppings cover all the rice. The flavour of the bowl is strong, and you can taste the sweetness of the mentaiko together with the freshness of the tuna and salmon sashimi chunks which are thick and juicy. The mentaiko itself is sweet, creamy, and super umami.
I ordered this bowl specially for the tamago, so I appreciate how the tamago slices were quite large. Omote also gives a lot of wasabi, and it comes in this big ball. I usually like to separate it from the rice because it can get a bit overwhelming. Even by itself, the rice is delicious as its drizzled with sauce.
If you're new to Omote and can't decide what to order, try the Tamago Mentai Chirashi!
If it's upsized, it's definitely my boyfriend's order! The Upsized Chirashi is another one of their most popular dishes. Ingredients wise, it's quite similar to the Tamago Mentai Chirashi where both dishes have tuna, salmon sashimi, and fish roe. The difference is that the Upsized Chirashi has a lot more variety of sashimi. Overall this is a very simple dish with classic flavours, making it an easy eat.
The Upsized Chirashi also has quite a big portion, so even my boyfriend can't finish it most of the time. If you have a big appetite, take this baby on!
We also ordered the Omote Favourite Sushi Set, which is quite pricey at $30 for 10 pieces of sushi. The sushi includes salmon aburi, salmon mentai, salmon mayo, tamago, salmon belly, maguro akami, unagi, inari mentai, hotate mentai, and tamago mentai. The sushi was as fresh as always, even though it was delivered!
We were actually so full by the time we finished our rice bowls, so we left the sushi set for supper. We were pleasantly surprised 4 hours later when we took the sushi out to eat, and it still tasted superb.
I'm glad that Omote has always managed to maintain their quality of food, and you can always count on them to offer you the best Japanese food whether you're dining in or ordering in! We've actually ordered in twice with the rest being takeaways to save on delivery fees, but I dare say that the $5 fee isn't unreasonable considering we're in the midst of a circuit breaker and delivery fees on GrabFood can go up to $16. Yeah, Grab is damn CB.
The food is always packed nicely in a Omote paper bag and you never have to worry about spills. They also offer cutlery, soy sauce, and extra wasabi.
I know that the Japanese food at Omote isn't the most authentic because they've localised most of their dishes, but that doesn't make their food any less delicious. Their Japanese food also has a stronger, more flavourful taste with lots of sauces compared to authentic recipes that focus on the fresh, original tastes of the sashimi and sushi. It's really up to personal preference, but so far Omote is my favourite Japanese restaurant of all time and will continue being so for a long time!

Garlic Yakiniku Don ($18.80)
If you don't like sushi bowls, don't worry because there are many other main dishes to choose from. The Garlic Yakiniku Don is one of my favourite non-sushi bowl dishes because it's just so flavourful. The bowl consists of fine layered beef cuts, thinned onions, as well as delicious roasted garlic. The garlic is my favourite part of this dish because it smells and tastes so good! If you're a fan of garlic, you'll love the Garlic Yakiniku Don.Omote Favourite Sushi Set ($30)
We also ordered the Omote Favourite Sushi Set, which is quite pricey at $30 for 10 pieces of sushi.
