Hi all! I hope Covid times have been treating you well and that you've taken this time to practice lots of self care!

Recently I got myself this Ultrasonic Skin Scrubber from ANLAN; I saw it during a Shopee sale and bought it purely out of curiosity. The item was shipped from China, and though that may be a matter of concern for some people, ANLAN is a recognisable brand so I didn't mind giving it a try.

The packaging is quite pretty and has a soft pastel pink. Inside the packaging, you'll see the pink ultrasonic scrubber, charging wire, manual, and a protective pouch in aqua. It does look really aesthetic to be honest!

So the ANLAN Ultrasonic Scrubber has 4 functions - Ultrasonic Care, Ion Export, Ion Import, and EMS Massage. It all sounds really chim and honestly I won't know what those functions are by just looking at the names - but to put it simply it helps to cleanse your face, improve blood flow, and remove impurities.

You're supposed to charge the device for 2 hours before using, but mine was fully charged right away. After that, you'll need to wipe down the spatula using a cotton pad, or just rinse with water.

It's recommended to use this device 1-2 times a day, no more than 15 minutes for each time. If you're going to be using this on the same part of your skin again later, make sure to wait 6 hours before doing so. According to the manual, you shouldn't use this when you're on your period and if you're pregnant - so take note!

Now onto the cleansing!

One important thing to note while using the Ultrasonic Skin Scrubber is that your face must be damp, if not the scrubber may cause friction burns. Now we don't want that of course. There are 4 steps to use the Skin Scrubber and I'll explain them below!

With your face wet, press the ON/OFF button once to choose the Ultrasonic Mode and cleanse your face for 2-3 minutes.

Press the ON/OFF button again to choose the Ion+ Mode for deep cleansing and exfoliating. Gently move the spatula from the edge of your nose towards the middle, then repeat on the other side. At this stage, your blackheads should become less visible due to the removal of dirt, oil, and bacteria on the face. This stage is also great for those of us with clogged pores! Remember to keep your face humid here too.

Now wipe your face dry and apply your regular face cream. Press the ON/OFF button again for the Ion- Mode and move the spatula from the middle of the face, moving outwards and absorbing the product deeper into your skin. You don't actually have to apply more pressure to achieve this as the machine will do the trick itself.

PMS? Nope. It's EMS!

The EMS Mode helps to lift and massage your skin as well as accelerate metabolism, renew skin cells, and firm wrinkles. For those of your with sagging skin, this is a step that you shouldn't skip!

Now onto the review!

What I liked: I guess the skin scrubber works because I can feel tiny zaps on my skin and the spatula emitting heat; my face does feel cleaner after that and it helps to remove oil really well. I like how my face feels "well-circulated" after using the device too.

What I didn't like: The zaps are horrifying - in my opinion - because it comes really quick and suddenly, and IT HURTS. The sounds the device makes is also quite intimidating, like the zzzzzz sound you'll here in a tattoo studio. Honestly, the zaps are enough to deter me from using this.

So there you have it - my review on the ANLAN Ultrasonic Skin Scrubber! I actually gave the scrubber to my boyfriend because he liked it a lot more than I did, and it seemed to clear his blackheads too. I only use it once a week because I'm still not a fan of being zapped out of the blue, and those who have a higher pain threshold may really love this device too.
