Belle-ville Novena Square 2 Pancakes Review
Belle-ville Novena Square 2 Pancakes Review
One thing I like about Belle-ville is that the pancakes and great and are value for money. The prices aren't horrendous, and even if you think it's pricey, at least you'll leave feeling full! Most importantly, their fluffy pancakes are made upon order so you can be sure that you are served fresh-out-of-the-oven treats.
Here's what we ordered:
- Matcha with Rice Ball and Red Bean Pancake - 4 pieces ($12.20)
- Drink set - Melon soda ($3.50)
- Topping - butter ($1)
- Mango Pancake - 2 pieces ($11.90)
- Millefeuille Pancake Set ($11.40)
If you're confused about the layout of the Belle-ville menu (because we were), you can vaguely see that the menu is divided into 2 parts - the left and right. The left part consist of pancakes that come with fruits and fresh cream (e.g. the Matcha with Rice Ball and Red Bean Pancake), while the right side consists of Millefeuille pancakes with fruits and fresh cream sandwiched between each layer (e.g. the Mango Pancake).
My boyfriend ordered the Matcha with Rice Ball and Red Bean Pancake, so you can expect that he made sure to add toppings as well as a drink. The pancake itself was really good - fluffy and soft (though not as fluffy as those Japanese ones) yet extremely hearty. If I'm not mistaken, he couldn't finish a piece.
The matcha was well blended into the pancake batter and the taste was mild; the Shiratama Mochi and Azuki Red Bean enhanced the sweetness of the dessert, but if that isn't enough, you can mix the pancakes with more of the black honey syrup!
My boyfriend also topped up $3.50 for a Melon soda, and you can tell by its look that it wasn't good. The drink was just super sweet and full of colouring, and we needed to keep stirring it so the syrup would mix well with the water. It was just bad. Next time, we'll order something else like the Ginger Ale, tea or coffee!
The butter topping was 10/10 - smooth and creamy with a bit of salty taste. It was a nice contrast to the sweetness of the pancakes.
I had the Mango Pancakes and they are basically 2 (or you can choose 4) pieces of Millefeuille pancakes with rich Hokkaido cream and mango chunks. This one was quite basic but it was extremely flavourful and had a lot more toppings and syrup than the other pancakes, - lucky me!
The Millefeuille Pancake Set came in 4 pieces with a pot of tea. Personally, I liked how simple this pancake was from the plating to the flavours. The pancakes were also really fluffy! However the toppings were a little small for my liking, and because this pancake had no syrup it may feel a little bland for some people, but I enjoyed it! I recommend that you spam the whipped cream and just run out the calories at the gym later. For those of you who want more flavour, you can add more toppings such as Azuki Red Bean or Ice Cream - just at $1 each!
The hot tea was also nice and refreshing, and it was a generous pot so we could share it among 3 people and have multiple refills.
Generally, I am satisfied with the Belle-ville pancakes and the pictures always give me major cravings. The pancakes are relatively affordable and the portion is great too. However it would be great if they actually gave a bit more toppings, because they usually finish before the pancakes.
It's usually really crowded at Belle-ville, so I recommend that you visit on weekdays during off-peak hours from 4-6pm. If not, you can opt for delivery too! Check out the Belle-ville menu here.
See you next post!
