pomme-review

Hey, Faithfuls! I think I've just found my favourite cafe in Singapore. Pomme is a relatively new cafe located at South Bridge Road, and they're known for their amazing fusion food and delectable pastries. They started gaining a lot of traction on social media because the cafe is headed by a team of four young chefs with culinary experience. If you're wondering, Pomme actually means 'Apple' in French!

The cafe does not take reservations, so we decided to head down for an early dinner to beat the crowd. Thankfully, many tables were still empty around 6pm on that Sunday evening. According to my friend, Friday nights and Saturday evenings are often packed.

pomme-shio-kombu

You place your orders here through their online system. We started off with the Shio Kombu (S$12). The Shio Kombu were these delicious hand-cut fries that were one of the most umami things I've ever tasted. It was smoky, slightly charred, and packed with flavour.

pomme-salad

Then we had the Pomme Salad (S$9), which consisted of a soft-boiled egg, charred corn, pickled shallots, and the cafe's house-made ranch dressing. I personally love salads, but if you're someone who thinks salads are boring, you should try the one at Pomme, which offers a crunchy mouthfeel and a savoury delight with each bite.

pomme-salmon

For mains, I had the Miso Salmon (S$30), featuring a marinated salmon nested on a bed of house-made 'sand' and a dill cream sauce. It was also served with potatoes. The salmon was very tender and melt-in-your-mouth. It also complemented the lemony sauce well.

pomme-beef-ragu

My boyfriend had the Beef Ragu Pappardelle (S$24), which featured 12-hour braised beef ragu, beef stock, and udon Parpadelle pasta. This also had some red wine thrown into the mix, as well as aged Parmigiano Reggiano and fire-roasted tomatoes.

pomme-spaghetti

We also ordered the Rosé Seafood Spaghetti (S$26), one of my personal favourites with grilled tiger prawns, scallops, lumpfish caviar, and Malfadine pasta. This pasta was very creamy, and the portion was just right because once I started to feel a little jelak, I would almost be done with the dish already.

pomme-pastries

You have to try the pastries at Pomme, if not it's like you never visited the cafe. We had the Gentle Daisy (S$9), Berry Ghurt (S$9.50), and Cleopatra (S$12). The pastries were really top-tier, and the flavours were very unique. The Gentle Daisy had sweet corn, thyme, passionfruit, and almond frangipane. The Berry Ghurt had yoghurt sour cream mousse and a mixed berries compote, while the Cleopatra was crafted using dark chocolate mousse, and truffle camembert.

We spent quite a lot that night considering how much we ordered. The bill was hefty, but if you break it down into the different dishes and really reflect on how good each of them was, you'll realise it was worth every cent. I know there are many popular new cafes in Singapore, and some may not always deserve the hype they get, but I can say for sure that Pomme deserves all the positive ratings they can get!

Thanks for reading, and see you next post.
