Hey, Faithfuls! Travel season is upon us, and I think half of Singapore is either in Bali, Japan, or Korea. My aunt and cousin visited Korea recently and spent a few days in Busan. As I'll be going to Korea in December—which is still so far away—I thought I could get started on some research first. So today I'll be sharing with you some of the more interesting places that they visited during their trip to Korea, and although this list is not an extensive one, I hope it will be a good guide for those who are visiting Busan for the first time!

What to do in Busan

There are non-stop flights connecting Singapore to Busan, such as flights from Jeju Air. If you are heading to Seoul first, you can reach Busan in less than three hours travelling by KTX trains, while the longest ride will take about 5 hours and 22 minutes.

1. Gamcheon Cultural Village

You've probably since this on Instagram, as it's a famous village in Busan with lots of colourful houses. If you've got knee problems, I don't suggest coming here as there are many, many steps. But those who love walking and exploring will enjoy the vibrant streets, unique murals, and artistic sculptures and make Busan truly one-of-a-kind.

If you're a fan of The Little Prince, be sure to take a photo with his cute statue!

2. Jagalchi Market

Seafood lovers should definitely pay Jagalchi Market a visit. It's also located at the seaside and is Korea's largest seafood market selling both live fish and dried fish. Besides, it's relatively accessible via public transport.

There are two sections—the indoor and outdoor sections. There's also a seafood buffet section with lots of delicious seafood!

3. Gwangan Bridge

The Gwangan Bridge, AKA Diamond Bridge, is a suspension bridge in Busan, which also has a light show from 8pm to 10pm. There are also lots of food in the area near the bridge where you can have pork rice soup and drink soju. There are said to be over 300 trendy cafes and restaurants in this area!

Also, did you know that the bridge is decorated with over 7,000 LED lights? Super slay.

4. Waveon Coffee House

Waveon Coffee House is a must-visit when you are in Busan, as it is built on a cliff and offers a breathtaking view of the ocean from any angle. It may be a little far off from Busan's main city, but many locals and tourists still come here to experience its beauty. It can get crowded on weekends, though.

Their drinks and cakes are as pretty as the cafe itself and are also worth a try.

5. Busan Tower

This sounds touristy, I know, but based on the pictures my aunt shared with us, the view from the top is gorgeous.

Plus, it was just reopened in 2021, so you can check the new and improved towel out. There are also art installations in front of the tower and coffee made by a robot called Dataro. I would go to Busan Tower just for Datoro, TBH.

6. Cheongsapo Daritdol Observatory

Cheongsapo is a seaside village in Busan, and it's known for its seafood and lighthouses. A popular attraction there is the CheongSapo Daritdol Observatory, which is also a skywalk that allows you to walk 20m over the ocean.

The observatory is shaped like a blue dragon stretching out over the ocean. As you walk on it, you can also see the ocean under your feet from the transparent glass. There are also numerous photo zones along the skywalk, such as billboards in Korean characters, so you can immortalise this experience.

7. Cheongsapo Suminine

When you're in Cheongsapo, come and visit this restaurant, which is located right off Haeundae Beach. The restaurant is famous for their live eel, which is said to be absolutely delicious. There are only a few items on the menu, including three types of shellfish, eel, and some side dishes. You can also get instant noodles or rice to go with your seafood. Based on the pictures my aunt sent me and the impressive reviews on Google, I would say this place is definitely worth visiting.

Things to do in Busan

The next time you're planning to make a trip to Korea, do consider going to Busan, especially if you're a fan of seafood and the beach. It's still touristy but not as hectic as Seoul, and you'll also get to enjoy the beauty of nature and the quietness of the seaside.

That's all for today's post; thanks for reading, and see you next post!
