Sushi Jin @ Farrer Park Hospital Review: Dinner Omakase

Hey, Faithfuls! So, it's a known fact that I love Japanese food. Like, I really love it. I love omakase even more because of the surprise element, and even though it's expensive, I try to treat myself to an omakase experience occasionally. Lucky me, because my boyfriend recently decided to take us out on a fancy date night on Valentine's Day to this place called Sushi Jin.

Located at Farrer Park Hospital, Sushi Jin is known for their lunch and dinner omakase. We were there for dinner, and there were three omakase options available: Sushi Omakase (S$168), "Jin" Omakase (S$198), and Chef's Premium Omakase (S$268).

If you love cosier and quieter restaurants, this is definitely the place for you. Sushi Jin also has a private room that you can book for special occasions or an intimate date night.

We opted for the "Jin" Omakase, which had appetisers, assorted sashimi, two seasonal cooked dishes, assorted sushi, soup, and dessert. Here's what we got!

I can't remember all the dishes served at Sushi Jin, and I can barely remember what they're called, but I will try. I also won't be featuring all the dishes here, as there were a lot.

Our appetisers started with a bang. I especially loved the shirako. If you didn't know, shirako is basically harvested sperm sacks. That may sound gross, but the flavour is really good. It has a sweet taste with a custard-like texture. Yummers.

The next dish came with slices of black truffle and caviar. I don't always get the chance to eat caviar, which is why I made sure to finish every last bit of it, even though it was difficult to pick them up with my terrible chopstick skills.

Next came the sashimi platter, which featured salmon, uni, fatty tuna and more. The sashimi slices were so thick and fatty that they melted in my mouth.

Here's a picture of one of the cooked dishes that we got.

Next, we were served single pieces of yummy sushi. The one with uni was simply amazing. I could taste all the sweet, savoury, and umami flavours in one bite. I was also a big fan of its creamy texture.

This sushi even features a slice of black truffle on top. Flavours are on the fusion side, which I didn't mind. After all, who doesn't love a taste of creativity?

And then there was this shrimp sushi with pesto sauce, topped with ebiko that went "pop" in the mouth.

I love scallops and uni, which was why this was one of my favourite sushi of the night. Plus, it came foie gras and more caviar.

We ended our outstanding meal with this warm bowl of soup. If I'm not mistaken, it's unagi liver soup. Sounds gross, but tastes amazing, and was a good palate cleanser after a whole night of strong flavours.

omakase-dessert

Last but not least, we were served a refreshing dessert consisting of chilled Japanese melon and strawberries. The melon was one of the sweetest I've had in my life—not kidding.

Props to my boyfriend for finding out about this amazing omakase place. I wouldn't say that the omakase was super expensive since they served many dishes and the food was just *chef's kiss*. Plus, dinner omakase tends to be on the pricier side anyway. When it comes to good food, just take my money.

Sushi Jin is considered one of the best omakase places in Singapore, so I highly recommend them if you're a big fan of omakase or sashimi in general. I'm sure you'll love the food, the vibes, and the service as much as I did.

Thanks for reading, and see you next post!
