pocha tampines mall review

Hey, Faithfuls! So I tried out Pocha for the first time at their Tampines Mall outlet recently. Despite the crowd and the 30-minute wait for a table, the food totally made up for it. Pocha brings the lively essence of Korean street dining to Singapore, promising an authentic taste of Korean culinary delights.

We kicked off our meal with some alcohol, namely the Rainbow Train (S$38.80). This unique offering lets you sample six different boozy concoctions, ranging from lemon to coffee flavours, all mixed with soju. Warning: they're quite sweet but definitely fun to try!

Now, onto the food. The Korean Pancake (S$12.90) and Crispy Shin Ramyeon With Budae Jjigae (S$18.90) were a bit of a miss for us. The pancake was a tad doughy, only coming to life when paired with the sweet-sour chilli sauce. As for the ramyeon, while the army stew itself was decent, the crispy noodles felt a bit gimmicky and didn't quite hit the mark, especially once soaked in the broth.

However, there were definite winners on the menu. The Busan Style Gukbap (S$20.90) stole the show, featuring a collagen-rich broth filled with pork belly and pig ears. The light yet flavorful soup was a comfort to the palate, especially for my friend nursing a hangover from the night before. The tender pork belly and chewy pig ears added a delightful texture to each spoonful.

Another standout dish was the Daktoritang (S$18.90), boasting a rich tomato flavour with hints of curry chicken. And don't forget to try the Hotteok (S$5.90), a sweet and savoury pancake that makes for a satisfying appetizer, albeit a tad heavy.

Overall, Pocha is definitely worth a visit if you're craving authentic Korean fare. While the prices may be on the higher side, the generous portions make it worth the splurge. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait, but trust me, the food makes it all worthwhile!
