Hey, Faithfuls! So if you’re a fan of smoky flavours, hearty meats, and Asian-inspired cuisine, you’re in for a treat at Blue Smoke. Nestled along Joo Chiat Road, Blue Smoke is a contemporary Asian smokehouse that brings together the best of American BBQ and Asian flavours, all while offering a cosy, laid-back vibe perfect for a date night.

Stepping inside Blue Smoke, you’ll immediately notice the minimalistic interiors with bare concrete walls, dim lighting, and rustic wooden tables. It’s an intimate space that feels modern yet comfortable while the smell of smoked meats fills the air, hinting at what’s to come.

Blue Smoke’s menu is small but mighty, focusing on smoked dishes with unique Asian twists.

blue-smoke-charred-napa-cabbage

We started with their Charred Napa Cabbage (S$15). This dish was unassuming but tasted so good! Was one of my faves. The cabbage was tender with a slight char, and the crunchy fried shallots on top gave it a nice textural contrast. Pairing it with the roasted garlic added a delightful umami punch.

miso-shiitake-buns

Next, we tried the Miso Shiitake Buns (S$10), featuring soft, buttery brioche filled with a creamy miso-butter shiitake mushroom mix. The fluffy brioche defo was a highlight.

For seafood lovers, their Tamarind Prawns (S$26) are a must-try. These Malaysian-farmed Tiger Prawns, marinated with tamarind paste and smoked to perfection, had a tangy flavour with a smoky undertone that made them super addictive.

Of course, we couldn’t visit Blue Smoke without trying their signature smoked meats. The Wood Smoked Beef Brisket (S$18 for 100g) was outstanding. Marinated with garam masala and smoked for 20 hours over lychee wood and charcoal, the brisket was incredibly tender, with the point end offering a melt-in-your-mouth marbling.

The rendang sauce that comes with it pairs beautifully with the smoky meat, and the house-made sambal balado adds an extra kick if you like spicy food.

Another standout was the Smoked Honey Sriracha St. Louis Ribs (S$32). These 500g ribs were marinated in a honey-sriracha glaze, creating a perfect balance of sweet and spicy. While the ribs weren’t quite “fall-off-the-bone,” they were tender and flavorful without the annoying bits of meat sticking to your teeth. A solid choice if you’re craving ribs with a twist.

We also ordered a side of Dirty Basmati Rice (S$8), stir-fried with the meat juices from the smoking process. While the rice was a bit dry when we tried it, it still had a great, smoky flavour that complemented the brisket nicely.

goreng-pisang-split

To end on a sweet note, we had the Goreng Pisang Split (S$16), a playful take on the classic banana split. Picture deep-fried Del Monte bananas in a tempura-style batter, served with homemade vanilla ice cream. The crispy banana paired with the creamy ice cream was heavenly—a must-try if you’ve got a sweet tooth.

Lastly, don’t forget to try some of their beers, especially the Lychee Lager (S$10). This crisp lager is brewed with lychee puree, giving it a light, refreshing sweetness that pairs beautifully with the bold, smoky dishes. It’s a unique combination that complements the Asian-inspired flavours on the menu.

Blue Smoke is a great spot if you’re looking for a unique smokehouse experience in Singapore. The blend of Asian spices and smoking techniques with American BBQ classics makes it a standout among other BBQ joints, and you'll come out smelling like a snacc cos the smokiness in that restaurant is STRONG.
