Hey, Faithfuls! If you love karaoke, live music, and Sichuan food, you gotta check out this hidden gem that recently hit my radar.

Located in the bustling Clarke Quay, JUGe 聚歌 Entertainment is the spot for authentic Sichuan cuisine and private karaoke experiences. Spread across multiple floors, JUGe brings together dining, music, and karaoke in a fun, multi-level setup. Level 5 boasts a live band stage, and VIP karaoke rooms with dining options from their Sichuan restaurant, while Level 3 offers private karaoke rooms for more intimate gatherings.

We previously visited their ground-floor kopitiam, JUwei Old Nanyang Coffee Shop, a nostalgic spot with a distinct local flair, but tonight, we’re here to enjoy Sichuan flavors, music, and a lively KTV experience!

The karaoke rooms are spacious, easily accommodating up to 10 people. Since we were a smaller group, we had plenty of space with two large tables, allowing us to spread out and fully enjoy the food.

You can order the food via the QR code on the table. We opted for sides to kick off the night. Our first dish was the Mentai Cauliflower with Bonito Flakes (S$13). This featured an
interesting mix of smoky mentaiko sauce and cauliflower, topped with umami-packed bonito flakes that gave it a rich, savory punch to start the meal.

My dining companions are huge meat lovers, so they had to get the Deep Fried Pork Belly With Garlic (S$16) and Ika Geso Karaage (S$16).

While slightly on the dry side, the pork belly offered a nice balance of flavors, with the garlic accentuating its savory richness. It’s the kind of comfort food that’s tasty, if a bit indulgent.

On the other hand, the Japanese-inspired dish of fried squid legs was surprisingly juicy, with a delicate, crispy coating. The subtle sweetness of the squid shone through, making it a delightful bite between the spicier Sichuan flavors.

sambal-clams

Seafood lovers can go for the Sambal Clams (S$20), starring sambal-coated clams deliver a spicy, savory kick without overpowering fishiness, complemented by stir-fried vegetables for a satisfying and balanced dish.

We also tried the Garlic Broccoli With Shrimp (S$16). This comprised a fresh, light appetiser to balance the richer dishes. The broccoli was crisp, pairing well with plump shrimp that were impressively bouncy and juicy. The garlic added just enough warmth, making it simple but satisfying.

My friends loved the Claypot Pig Stomach With Chicken Soup (S$25), a comforting, hearty soup with tender pieces of chicken and peppery pig stomach. The soup was rich and nourishing, though a hint of wine could have added a traditional depth. Still, the robust flavors of the chicken and stomach balanced beautifully.

The highlight of the night was the Mala Grilled Fish (S$48)! This dish brought the signature numbing spice of Sichuan peppercorns, with each bite packing that mouth-tingling heat. The fish itself was tender and succulent, beautifully complemented by a layer of fresh coriander for an aromatic finish.

For drinks, we tried the Kirin Pint (S$16), a refreshing option to pair with the spicy dishes. JUGe also offers sake, soju, and whiskey, ensuring everyone finds something to their taste.

So if you're a karaoke lover, this is the place to be! With an easy-to-use song selection system focusing on Chinese music, it’s great for native Chinese speakers or anyone looking to immerse in Mandarin tunes. JUGe 聚歌 is ideal for parties, a dinner spot before hitting the clubs, or simply a place to wind down with great food and music in the heart of Clarke Quay.

I really enjoyed my time here and would definitely be back the next time I get an earworm.
