Hey, Faithfuls! My friend and I had been eyeing Otter & Pebbles for a while now, but with me living in the East and her in the West, Novena always felt like a bit of a trek. We finally had a free evening to kill and figured—since the hype has died down and it was around dinner time—it might be the perfect moment to check it out. We were right. The cafe was chill and not too crowded, and we could take our time enjoying the food!

BTW, Otter & Pebbles is a sister brand of The Coffee Code, which you might know from their Neil Road outlet. This one’s located just a three-minute walk from Novena MRT Station, right next to Oasia Hotel.

Inside, the space is cosy with a blend of Japanese-style booth seating and open tables, great for anything from solo visits to group hangouts.

I went for their Kurobuta Sando, which featured a thick-cut, juicy pork sandwiched between buttery toasted milk bread. The pork was incredibly tender and well-seasoned, with a slightly crisp crust that paired so well with the pillowy soft bread.

If you’re coming here, you must try their Dutch Pancake. It’s unlike anything I’ve seen at other cafes in Singapore. We had the ham and burrata version, which came topped with creamy burrata and greek yogurt, slices of savoury ham, and a maple syrup drizzle. Creamy, salty, and sweet flavours made this super addictive. It's a standout dish—I would 100% come back just for this.

For drinks, my friend ordered the OJ Cheestache, which is essentially Osmanthus jasmine tea topped with cheese foam. It sounds off, but it actually worked. The floral jasmine notes were refreshing and paired surprisingly well with the salty-savoury cheese foam. There was a subtle hint of osmanthus fragrance, and the cheese foam added body and richness without overwhelming the drink.

I went for the Yuzu Matcha, which was a well-balanced drink. You get that earthy depth from the matcha, brightened by the zesty, citrusy kick from the yuzu. There were even little bits of yuzu peel, adding texture and an extra burst of flavour with each sip. Not too sweet, not too bitter—just the way I like it.

The bill came up to around S$35 per person, which is definitely pricier, but considering the unique offerings—especially the Dutch pancake—I’d say it’s worth it. You’re not just getting your usual cafe fare here. Each dish felt thoughtfully put together, and the vibe was quiet and relaxed, perfect for a chill catch-up.

Would I come back? For that Dutch pancake? Absolutely. Thanks for reading, and see you next post!
