Casa Vostra Review: Authentic Italian Pizzas @ Raffles City
Casa Vostra sports a semi-open kitchen, where diners can enjoy watching their food being prepared and pizzas sliding into the large wood-fired oven.
The menu at Casa Vostra boasts their famed slow-fermented Neapolitan pizzas and handcrafted pasta, all made in-house. Pizzas are split into three types: Newpolitan Red, Newpolitan White, and the unique Doublecrunch. The Neapolitan Red series features a tomato base crafted from premium San Marzano tomatoes, which are known for their balanced sweetness and tang. The Neapolitan White features cheeses as their base, while the Doublecrunch offers an extra-crispy, layered pizza sandwich.
From the Neapolitan Red selection, I tried the Gamberi (S$28), topped with Argentinian prawns, San Marzano tomatoes, prawn reduction, lemon zest, and Parmigiano. The prawns stole the show, with their juicy sweetness perfectly complemented by the tang of the tomatoes.
For the Neapolitan White, I went for the Pesto (S$23), a dreamy blend of Parmigiano Reggiano, stracciatella, basil pesto, yellow tomatoes, and pine nuts.
This pizza had a creamy, savoury base with a refreshing herbal lift from the basil pesto, while the stracciatella added a luxurious, melty texture that balanced beautifully with the nuttiness of the pine nuts.
In the Doublecrunch series, I couldn’t resist the Mortadella (S$22), layered with mortadella, burrata, pistachio, lemon zest, basil, and Parmigiano Reggiano.
This “pizza sandwich” is a real standout—light, crispy layers encase the creamy burrata and salty mortadella, with the pistachios adding a delightful crunch.
For pasta, I ordered the Crab Tagliatelle (S$26), one of Casa Vostra’s signature dishes. This dish came packed with tender crab meat, tomato confit, and a light sauce of olive oil, garlic, and butter. The tagliatelle was the perfect choice—its thickness and chewiness held the delicate sauce well. The dish felt effortless yet comforting, with the simplicity allowing the crab’s freshness to shine.
The sides include options like the Bresaola (S$14), featuring house-cured Wagyu bresaola, rocket, and Parmigiano Reggiano, which offers a rich, slightly sweet flavour with a melt-in-the-mouth texture balanced by the peppery bite of rocket. Another highlight is the Burrata Tomato e Pesto (S$25), served with burrata, roasted tomato, and basil pesto. This was a creamy and refreshing side, with the tangy tomatoes pairing perfectly with the luscious burrata.
For dessert, I ended with the Panna Cotta (S$8), a silky blend of cream, vanilla, strawberry, basil, and olive oil. The light floral notes from the basil enhanced the strawberry’s sweetness, while the olive oil added an unexpected savoury depth.
Although some patrons report waiting up to an hour or more, the quality of the food justifies the hype—authentic Italian flavours that make it well worth the queue if you’re in the area. The pizza is among the best I’ve had in Singapore, and Casa Vostra’s commitment to authenticity truly shines! I would definitely be back (RIP to my legs) because I've yet to find another place that offers superb Italian food at this price point.
