Short Trip To Kuala Lumpur & Le Apple Boutique KLCC Hotel Review

by - October 29, 2019

I'm proud to say that this year has been a year of many, many travels. In fact, I've traveled over 10 times in 2019, and the year hasn't even ended yet.

Having been to so many places, it is quite weird that I've never thought of going to Kuala Lumpur, the capital of my motherland, Malaysia. Perhaps it's because KL seems rather familiar to me as a Malaysian - but even so, I haven't visited KL in almost 10 years.

Because of this, I was really glad to be offered a 1 night stay in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city at Le Apple Boutique Hotel KLCC. I decided to bring my mom with me since it's been forever since we went on a trip together - plus, she loves shopping.

I only got to spend 2 days in KL due to our busy schedules, but my mom and I really made the most of our trip, so here's how it went!

Le Apple Boutique Hotel KLCC

When our Grab dropped us off at the hotel entrance, my mom and I couldn't contain our surprise as Le Apple Boutique Hotel KLCC is literally right smack in the heart of KL. To be very honest, we were expecting somewhere a little far off from the city!

We were dropped off at some sort of building lobby, and you'd have to take the lift up to the 1st floor to check in at the front desk. We were greeted by the staff who were very polite and accommodating with our request for an early check-in (by right check-in time is at 3pm, but we had a very early flight and reached around 10am). If anything, they are more than happy to assist you 24/7.

The hotel gave us their Deluxe Queen Room, which goes at RM250 (~S$81.38) with a buffet breakfast for two. But if you'd like to go extremely budget, The most affordable room is their Superior Queen Room, which starts at RM189 (~S$61.52) without breakfast. I would say, take the breakfast!

Our complimentary welcome drinks
We were also asked to make a deposit for RM100 (~S$32.55) which would be returned upon check-out, and were given two coupons for a free drink each at the Japanese Restaurant downstairs.

After getting that refreshing drink, you can pop by the 7-Eleven store just beside the restaurant for some quick snacks before heading up to your room.

Our Room at Le Apple Boutique Hotel KLCC

My mom and I were offered the Deluxe Room with the KLCC view - which was the first thing we noticed when we entered the room. Gazing out the window from the 12th level, we got a direct view of the PETRONAS Twin Towers and surrounding buildings that made up the beautiful cityscape of Kuala Lumpur.

Our room had everything you need for a short getaway such as a flat-screen TV, ironing board, coffee/tea making facilities and free WiFi. They also have multiple charging ports at the desk and beside the bed, so you can be sure to binge as many shows as you can lying down without worrying about your battery.

I also loved the en-suite bathroom which looked very modern and chic, and was equipped with toiletries such as toothbrushes, shower caps, and cotton pads.

For paranoid travellers like me - say hello to the security safe which will be your best friend throughout the trip. Simply leave your cash, passport, or important items inside, secure it with a PIN and you're good to go.

My favourite thing about the room had to be the bed. I slept really well at the Le Apple Boutique Hotel with the thick blankets and pillows (there are both hard and soft options!!), and the air-con that remained perfectly cool throughout the night. The curtains were also really thick and blocked all the sunlight in the morning; I slept so soundly that I almost missed breakfast the next day!

If you're traveling to KL for work, the spacious work desk would be where you'd be spending your night hustling away, but at least you get to do so with this picturesque night view.

The Restaurant: ROKKO Japanese Grill Restaurant

Speaking of breakfast, I really enjoyed our complimentary buffet breakfast at the ROKKO Japanese Grill Restaurant, located at the Ground Level of the hotel building. It serves authentic Japanese cuisine with all-day dining.

The buffet spread was quite diverse, and really exceeded our expectations. There was cereal, porridge, SUSHI, mashed potatoes, spaghetti, nuggets and sausages, as well as juice, coffee, and tea.

On top of that, you can also request for a sunny side up, egg omelette or scrambled eggs to be cooked on-site.

There's also an outdoor dining area for those of you who enjoy the sun and bustling city ambience.

The Location

Le Apple Boutique Hotel has two locations - one at Bukit Bintang and one at KLCC. If you're into shopping, don't even think twice because you'll love the convenience that the KLCC branch offers. Not only is it just opposite the Avenue K Shopping Mall, it's also just a 5-minute walk from Suria KLCC and the PETRONAS Twin Towers. It's also near the KLCC LRT Station.

After a day of shopping...
Suria KLCC by itself is so big that it'll be worth two days of shopping. It's basically MBS without the indoor river and sampans.

Inside Suria KLCC
Being so close to all these attractions also means that you can save a lot more on travel fares, as Grab can be quite expensive in KL. You don't have to rush through your shopping spree to catch the last train or bus home, and you also don't have to worry if it drizzles because most of the pathways from the hotel to the malls are shaded.

The only downside is that Le Apple Boutique Hotel is quite far from the airport. It takes about 45 minutes to get to Kuala Lumpur International Airport, and about twenty minutes more during peak hours (12pm-2pm). A one way trip will cost around RM65 (~S$21.26).

Affordable Hotel with Perfect Location for Shoppers

Most people expect hotels located in the city centre to be luxurious or expensive, which are often true and can be quite a bummer if you're also intending to spend a lot more money on shopping. With Le Apple Boutique Hotel KLCC, all these concerns are invalid because you get to save so much more on accommodation and transport. I'm really glad that I found this rare gem because after today, I won't ever need to think twice when I need a place to stay in Kuala Lumpur!
