S$7063 Raffles Hotel Grand Hotel Suite Staycation

raffles hotel staycation review

This post is really, really overdue because my Raffles Hotel staycation was in SEPTEMBER last year and I already got a video out on YouTube, but heck - the staycation was so fun I don’t mind writing about it too!

We booked a staycation at Raffles Hotel during Phase 1 when they released this gigantic ‘The Suite Life’ promotion - also the first time in their history to do so EVER - which was something like a 1-for-1 nights stay. We booked one of their cheapest rooms for two nights for S$1150 total, but eventually got UPGRADED to the 2 Bed Grand Hotel 2 King Room which cost S$7063/night! It also came with bed and breakfast, a one-way limousine transfer and late check-out at 4pm. How sick was that?!

Stepping into Raffles Hotel was magical - we were greeted by the staff who smiled so bright we could see it through their masks, and they made us really welcome. The famous Grand Lobby was everything I thought it was - extremely lavish, tall, and expensive with lots of expensive lights. It was so beautiful.

The 2 Bed Grand Hotel 2 King Room was friggin gigantic. At 150sqm (1615 sq feet), it was a two-bedroom suite with an ensuite bathroom, large private balcony and walk-in wardrobe.

The two bedrooms were separated by a spacious living space which also housed the kitchen.

Walking into the bedroom, we were amazed by how big it was. The natural lighting in the morning was superb and I was really excited to see the 55-inch TV (which had Netflix too).

Our bathroom was absolutely gorgeous, decked in white marble, Peranakan floor tiles and a separate bathtub with walk-in shower. The vanity and shower amenities were also packed so beautifully that it was painful to take them out and use them.

Also can we please appreciate this balcony?!

Raffles Hotel also has a swimming pool and an amazing gym a.k.a ‘Fitness Centre’ - because they need to sound attas and shit. Let’s first talk about the Fitness Centre because it was one of the best gyms I’ve ever been to in a hotel. It had everything from Technogym treadmills to elliptical equipment, free weights and gym balls. The cardio machines were also fitted with personal TV screens so you can Netflix and work out. The swimming pool was also beautiful although I thought other places such as The Fullerton Hotel and MBS had pools that were harder to beat, but it was very 'colonial style' which I loved.

Every Raffles Hotel guest gets two free bottles of Banana Kaya Jam worth S$11.90 from Raffles Boutique, as well as a complimentary glass of the Singapore Sling.

We decided to enjoy our free Singapore Sling at the Raffles Courtyard, which was this lush, alfresco restaurant at the Raffles Arcade.

I really loved the vibes here because everything was so green and bright. Raffles Hotel’s aesthetic takes a lot of inspiration from nature and greenery, and you can clearly see that from their rooms and restaurants. Raffles Courtyard also serves local food which was pricey but undeniably superb.

On the first day we also enjoyed the Raffles Afternoon Tea which was located at the Grand Lobby. The high tea was rather pricey at S$68++/person, and served treats such as scones, sandwiches, cakes and pastries. I thought that it was 7/10, but for the price... I think I can get tastier food elsewhere such as at Intercontinental.

After the afternoon tea, we also took a quick stroll around the Raffles compound and visited the Raffles Library and Hall of Fame. The library looked very vintage, but don’t expect too see lots of books because it’s more of a place to study, chill and watch TV. I was impressed by the Hall of Fame and it was interested to see how many famous people have stayed here before such as Michael Jackson and Queen Elizabeth. Apparently the cast of Crazy Rich Asians also filmed here at the most expensive room, which was one tier above ours.

I was most excited for breakfast the next day because it was my chance to experience the beautiful Tiffin Room. Breakfast ran from 7am-10.30am daily and was S$72/adult, S$36/child. The menu served western delights such as cereal, yoghurt, cheese, eggs benedict, waffles and pancakes, as well as local porridge and noodles.

Breakfast at Raffles Hotel was my favourite meal of every day because it was so good. I loved the eggs benedict and ordered at least two every breakfast. The coffee and iced chocolate was also heavenly and we drank them non-stop.

For dinner on day two, we decided to dine at the Tiffin Room again, where they become this North Indian Restaurant at night. The food here was delicious like no one’s business and even though it was very expensive, we loved each dish and every moment. Every single dish served was spectacular in its own right from the appetisers to the main course and dessert. Even the wine was amazing. Even the SERVICE was amazing.

Speaking of service, we really appreciated the staff’s gesture of offering us the upgrade among other things such as the surprise birthday cake and excellent butler service. FYI, the 24-hour butler service at Raffles Hotel is known to be top notch. We didn’t utilise it to the fullest because we didn’t have too many demands LOL, but we were really grateful that the staff gave us such wonderful and personalised service. Of course, we tipped them generously too.

I loved my stay at Raffles Hotel and it was such a once in a lifetime experience. I loved the rooms, the food, and the service, and everything about it. It’s not everyday that one gets a staycation upgrade to a 7k room at the most famous hotel in Singapore. This may be my only time I’ll ever get to stay at Raffles Hotel, but I’ll always keep the memories.
