Tiffin Room @ Raffles Singapore: Cocktail-pairing Food Review
Hey friends, welcome back to another blog post by yours truly. I'm a big fan of North Indian food and one of my favourite North Indian restaurants in Singapore is Tiffin Room, located at Raffles Hotel. My boyfriend found one of their promos on Instagram recently which was a course dinner inclusive of cocktail pairings at S$118/person. We were celebrating my boyfriend's mom's birthday that night, so we thought it would be the perfect way to commemorate the occasion!
Tiffin Room is a gorgeous place and the first thing you notice when you walk into the restaurant is the display of their signature tiffin containers. There were not many people at the restaurant as we were there on a Wednesday night and we managed to get great seats beside the window.

The dinner had four courses and it kicked off with an appetizer - the Jhinga Till Amrud which came with crispy fried prawn, sweet and spicy guava chutney, and masala peanuts. The dish was mildly spicy, and I loved the masala peanuts as they were crunchy and really sweet.

The appetizer was paired with Buffalo Road, Tiffin Room's best-selling vetiver-infused gin and tonic. It was served with a little pink guava jelly which tasted bitter when you first bite into it but became creamy (?) and sweet after a while. This was a refreshing cocktail that was the perfect way to start the night.

This was followed by the Paan Galouti Kebab, a minced lamb cutlet served atop a battered betel leaf. The service staff told us that this dish was also inspired by Singapore's Little India!

Then came the Race Course Plantation, a flavourful rum-based cocktail with sugarcane juice and coconut. This was my favourite cocktail of the night as it was sweet and easy to drink.

The main course was a selection of Tiffin Room's familiar dishes served in their signature tiffin containers, such as the Achari Murgh Curry, Madras Fish Curry, Dalcha Chop Masala, and Paneer Pulao.

We were also served a selection of naan. The naan that was served were cheese naan, garlic naan, and plain naan.

Accompanying the main course was Mr. Desker, which was a blend of Royal Challenge blend whiskey with Amrut single malt whiskey. While I found the taste to be too strong for my liking, it started to grow on my boyfriend who said it tasted great after the ice melted a little.

For dessert, we had the Gur Kheer which was a rice pudding topped with fruits. I really liked the rice pudding as it reminded me somewhat of scrambled eggs, and had a creamy texture to it. The overall dish was also not too sweet.

Dessert was accompanied by Sippin @ Seventy-eight, a tangy rum-based drink infused with Bru Coffee, coconut kombucha, and caramelised onion. This cocktail was super energizing and totally woke me up from my impending food coma. It also had a slightly burnt aroma due to the coffee, and the overall taste was rather strong. It was still relatively easy to drink and surprisingly helped cleanse the palate.

When we were done with the entire course, our stomachs were so full we needed to go out and take a walk and if you're lightweight, you should be able to feel the effects of the alcohol two cocktails in. The food is undeniably delicious and super filling, so even though the first two dishes look really small, you'll definitely have your fill during the main course.
This cocktail-pairing menu is seasonal so you may or may not be able to experience it, but Tiffin Room has had many collaborations with different chefs and I'm sure that future menus will be equally delicious and interesting.
That's all for today's blog post, thanks for reading and see you next post!
