Wildseed Cafe @ The Alkaff Mansion: Garden Cafe Review
Hey, Faithfuls! Today I will be doing a short review on Wildseed Cafe located at The Alkaff Mansion. Many of you may have heard of The Alkaff Mansion as it has recently become a popular spot for wedding receptions. I also have a thing for restaurants that are off the beaten track, and Wildseed Cafe was perfect because it was literally hidden in the wilderness.
I made a reservation via their website for a Saturday. The nearest MRT station to Wildseed Cafe is Telok Blangah MRT, but you'll need to take a bus even from there. My boyfriend and I decided to just Gojek to the cafe, and it was a great thing we did because it took us less than 3 minutes by car from the MRT.
Once the Gojek dropped us off, we walked up the stairs and set our eyes on The Alkaff Mansion. No wonder the whole of Singapore wants to get married here!
We walked up to the counter and told the staff that we had a reservation for two. While she went to find us a seat, I was secretly hoping that we would get seats inside the garden dining space.
And lucky enough, we got a seat for two in the garden dining space! You will definitely understand why I was so happy once you see it. The garden dining space looks absolutely tranquil and sitting inside, it almost feels as if you're overseas in some fancy cafe in France.
As Wildseed Cafe is a pet-friendly cafe, there were also a lot of dogs around. There were definitely quite noisy, especially this one dog who just wouldn't stop yapping, but being a dog owner and dog-lover, I just found them all adorable.
After snapping some pictures, we were ready to order. We chose to get food from the All Day Menu as we weren't looking for something overly filling. I got myself the Loaded Mac & Cheese (S$15) with macaroni pasta, bacon, and cheddar cheese. We also topped up S$3 for the smoked salmon. The mac & cheese was delicious, although it was more creamy than it was cheesy. There was not a lot of bacon, but I liked how the mac & cheese was quite light, making it very easy to eat.
We also got the Wagyu Beef Pie (S$14) with roasted vegetables, baby potatoes, puff pastry mozzarella cheese, and a leafy salad. I liked the puff pastry as it was soft and crispy, but I thought the portion was a bit small. But then again, the beef is wagyu, so I guess you're paying a premium for that! The baby potatoes were very savoury and I wished there were more of them! The wagyu itself was quite tender.
Our third dish was the Egg Croissant (S$13) with truffle butter, brie, and two sous vide eggs. This was delicious! The croissant was sweet and crisp and tasted like perfection when soaked in the runny yolk. I could also taste the truffle butter quite distinctively, which added a hint of richness to the croissant.

For drinks, we ordered the Iced Hazelnut Latte (S$7.50) and Iced Chocolate (S$7.50). The drinks were not bad and not the overly sweet kind. They came in a big glass too - absolute score!
After our lunch, we walked around and explored the area. The Alkaff Mansion is really beautiful and the location really adds to its whimsical vibe. It's also the perfect place to hold intimate weddings or have a lazy Sunday brunch. The food here is pretty decent and there are lots of items on the menu, so I wouldn't mind coming back again to try other dishes!
That's all for today, thanks for reading and see you next post.
