Hey, Faithfuls! If you're a big fan of Japanese cuisine, you’ve likely heard of Butahage, a renowned restaurant from Hokkaido. They first launched in Singapore back in 2015 at Liang Court, but after a brief three-year stint, they closed their doors. Thankfully, Butahage made a comeback, opening its new location at Suntec City.

Their signature dish is the Obihiro Meibutsu Japanese Pork Loin Don. You can choose from a regular-sized bowl for S$18.80 or go all out with the large version for S$23.80. This comforting dish features fluffy short-grain rice served aside nicely charred grilled pork loin, and a sweet-savoury tare sauce.

Another great option is the Tendon, which is priced at a super affordable S$9.50. This bowl of premium rice boasts a generous portion of tempura, including two prawns, crab sticks, Japanese mountain yam, pumpkin, and long bean.

For something more filling, try the Hokkaido Special & Noodle Set (S$18.80). It offers a variety of tempura, from black tiger prawns to scallops and salmon, plus a choice between Inaniwa Udon or Soba.

For those looking to enhance their meal, you can top up S$1.80 for an Onsen Tamago or S$3.20 for a silky Chawanmushi.

Butahage also offers a few side dishes to complement their mains. I tried the Mentai French Fries (S$3.90)—they were super crispy, though I felt the fries were just okay with the mentaiko sauce. However, if you love crunch, these might be for you! The Tori Karaage (S$4.80) was my favourite. The pieces were chunky and incredibly satisfying. Yes, it tasted a bit unhealthy, but that’s often a good indicator of just how delicious fried food can be!
