Hey, Faithfuls! Ahhhhhh I really miss drinking and going out with a group of friends to party! So I came across this place called B.E.D which is hidden within the J'Forte Building at Tai Seng, and when I saw it, I immediately asked my girlfriends if they were in for some Japanese food and alcoholic drinks. Once they saw the pictures, they said yes right away.

B.E.D is located in a food court and they cater to the office crowd during the day. But at night, the shutters of the food stores are closed and the lights are dimmed to create a bar-like atmosphere. The area also draws you in with its bright neon lights and signboards.

I made a reservation through their Facebook page. We were there on a Tuesday night so it was not really crowded, but there were a few tables with people who were drinking. To order, all you needed to do was scan the QR code on the table, and you can make the payment.

Our first dish was the Salmon Mentai Donburi (S$18). There was a generous amount of mentaiko on the sashimi, but I felt that the salmon pieces were quite little - and so was the rice. At S$18, you could easily get a more hearty bowl of chirashi don elsewhere, such as Omote. However, the flavours were good and the dish was generally delicious.

My friend had the Aburi Chashu Don (S$12), and I think she liked it quite a bit! I'm not a fan of fatty meat so I can't really comment, but she seemed to really enjoy it and the others who tasted it said it was a sweet and umami dish.

We also had the Spicy Salmon Rollin’ in B.E.D Maki (S$14) - a dish drizzled with mentaiko sauce that had hints of savoury spiciness. Now, this came in a hearty portion and I wished I ordered this instead!

To celebrate the night, we also had the Strong B.E.D Punch (S$48), served in a fish head steamboat pot. This 'beer hot pot' - which is served cold, BTW - is filled with four bottles of beer and fruits. It was very easy to drink because the fruits masked the bitterness of the beer, and even after drinking over five glasses, you didn't feel tipsy - only light and happy.

There are actually many other interesting dishes on the menu, including one with a rubber ducky in a tub and some delicious skewers. Since we didn't get to taste all the dishes, I really hope to come back again and try the other tasty treats B.E.D has to offer. The ambience here is nice and chill and the food is not bad, though some are more worth the price than others. That's all for today's review, see you next post!
