FREAKY NINE: Realistic Temporary Sticker Tattoos From Korea
FREAKY NINE sticker tattoos
FREAKY NINE is a Korean sticker tattoo brand with designs from different Korean tattooists. They offer many different sticker tattoos: colour, black, mini, watercolour, new school, and linework.
I got to choose five tattoo stickers of my liking from designers Kaya, Haesi, Doran, Urban, and 242. Their sticker packs start from ~S$11.18 (US$7.80) for their coloured and mini sticker tattoos and ~S$9.31 (US$6.50) for their black sticker tattoos. Do refer to their shipping policy for more information.
My colleague and I are obsessed with tattoos and were very excited to try them out. We were literally in the office 15 minutes before work ended, rushing to the pantry to try them on. We opened the package to check out the designs, and they were really pretty. The designs were very intricate, and the colours were so soft! Each pack had two sets of your chosen sticker tattoo design, as well as a set of instructions.
The sticker tattoos were very easy to put on. Unlike the ones I played around with when I was a kid, these ones did not require any water. You very literally just remove the film on the sticker tattoo and place it on your skin. Don't forget to wipe that part of your skin with an alcoholic swab first to remove any dirt.
I placed the Tattooist Urban on the back of my arm, and it was beautiful! There was a bit of stickiness when I first placed it, but nothing major. The design was so intricate, and the lines were thin and realistic.
I also tried placing some tattoo stickers from Tattooist 242 on other places of my arm, such as the inner side and outer side of my elbow. I also put one of Tattooist Haesi's beautiful butterfly tattoos near my thumb. My colleague tried the one from Tattooist Kaya, which was so gorgeous.
I found the coloured tattoos to look very realistic on the skin, possibly because you can't see the lines much. It is common for sticker tattoos to 'break apart' following the wrinkles on your skin, as you can see from the one I placed near my wrist. The tattoos did not hold up as well on bendy areas of the skin, which is understandable, so it's best to just place them on a flat area, like the inner arm or thigh!
The colourful butterfly tattoos were very subtle on the skin and were almost hard to see, especially the ones in pink. I think that's possibly due to my skin tone, as it is quite pinkish, especially for that part of my skin. However, I really liked the slightly faded effect because it made the sticker tattoo look more realistic.
My colleagues and I were actually heading out for a football game after work, so the sticker tattoos were really put to the test. While they handled the rain well, they were not as forgiving when it came to dirt. As the freshly placed sticker tatts were still sticky, a lot of dust and dirt ended up sticking to them and creating this weird, black outline. That was mainly my fault because I should have washed the temporary tattoo with soap and water instead of leaving it sticky. Once I went home to wash the sticker, it looked as good as new!
It's been about five days since I put on the FREAKY NINE sticker tattoos, and the butterflies and the one on the back of my arm are going strong! The one on my wrist is slowly peeling off due to the wrinkles on my skin, but it still looks quite intact, so I've left it on.
Thoughts on FREAKY NINE sticker tattoos
I was quite impressed by the quality of FREAKY NINE's sticker tattoos! I liked the design choices and how easy they were to put on. As someone who already has tattoos, I think it's a good idea to mix these sticker tattoos with my real ones, as they do blend in nicely. The brand has great potential and I already know of some Singaporeans who are already ordering from them, so I'm excited to see more of what they can offer in the future!
Thanks for reading, and see you next post.
