ebi-bar-review

Hey, Faithfuls! I've been hearing lots of people talk about this famous ebi ramen restaurant at Cuppage Plaza called Ebi Bar, so I headed down on a Friday night to check out what the hype was about. I'm not the biggest fan of ramen or shrimp, so I was really going in with an open mind. My boyfriend loves ramen, so I thought, even if I didn't like the place, at least one of us will be leaving with a happy stomach.

We were there around 6:30pm, and there were a lot of vacant tables. Ebi Bar is quite small so the tables are quite closely packed together—something I'm not a fan of because I hate sitting next to people who talk super loudly. We chose a cosy corner and proceeded to place our orders.

The menu is straightforward and since they specialise in ramen, there aren't many items. I already had my heart set on what I wanted to get. I had the Ebi Bar Hokkien Noodles (S$19.80), which had prawn, squid, ikura, and sea cucumber served alongside their signature charred ebi.

This actually tasted very similar to the ones I have at hawker centres, but with the addition of fish roe and hot sauce. The flavour is very rich, so it's easy to get jelak, but for me my motto is always: "Not jelak not nice!". The noodles are moderately smoky, and I like how it doesn't get soggy so easily. I slurped every last bit of the noodles.

My boyfriend had the Signature "Chao Da" Ebi Noodles (S$14.90), featuring their signature prawn noodles with rich flavourful broth, served with a pair of charred prawns.

The prawns were overcooked, but other than that, the dish was superb. The broth was again, super rich, and addictively umami. It's the kind that's so good you know it's confirm super unhealthy, but you just can't help but dig in. Portion was generous as well, but my boyfriend loved the broth so much he ordered extra noodles. I only wish he'd added on truffle oil as well!

I know today's review is a very simple one, but if there's one thing you should know after reading this, it's that you should definitely pay Ebi Bar a visit! The food is delicious, and this is coming from someone who does not like shrimp or prawn. The service was also good, and I appreciate the staff for being very friendly and attentive.

I seriously can't wait to go back again.

Thanks for reading, and see you next post!
