Dayuse Review: I Booked A Daycation In Singapore!

Hey, Faithfuls! So I've been wanting to go on a daycation for the longest time, and I finally got the chance to try it last week. I was introduced by a friend to this website called Dayuse, which is a platform that allows people to book hotel rooms from an hour, up to half a day. I wanted some me time, so I browsed through the website and saw that a 5pm to 10pm slot was available at ST Signature Jalan Besar.

This five-hour stay cost me S$150.14, which is pricey, but I had opted for a loft room, instead of the most affordable and basic option. You'll also have to pay a $50 deposit upon checking in, but this will be refunded within a day if all's good with the room once you check out.

To be honest, I was a bit sceptical about this whole daycation concept and even felt a bit iffy about it because let's be honest: who are the people who are booking these daycations? Probably couples who need some private time to themselves and don't have their own space to "do the deed"—if you get what I mean. I'm all for sexy time, don't get me wrong, but I will be uncomfortable if I'm chilling in my room—even with my partner—and I start hearing all sorts of weird noises coming from the room next door...

I was worried because I once booked a room at Hotel 81 on a weekend so my friends and I had a place to crash at after clubbing, and let me tell you... it was weird. Just from that short walk down the hall, my ears were subject to some of the weirdest sounds I've ever heard. Let me tell you, it's nothing like watching a steamy show on Netflix.

I digress.

Anyway, I decided to keep an open mind and headed down to ST Signature Jalan Besar. The hotel is just a minute's walk away from Jalan Besar MRT Station, and there are many food options around the area. As I walked into the lobby, I saw that there were a few tourists with their luggage who were waiting for check-in.

The check-in process is done via the ST Signature app, and the process was not the smoothest for me. I had issues trying to upload a picture of my identification card and had to do it again and again, at least seven times. Thankfully, the staff were very helpful and they helped to expedite the process a little bit. I was given a piece of paper with my room number and the room password written on it, and then I headed to my room.

As I opened the door to my room, I think I audibly gasped, because the room was so pretty! It was simple but looked clean and classy, and was quite spacious too.

Unlike the other basic rooms where the bed is placed in a hole in the wall, our bed was placed on the second level and came equipped with a TV set.

My only complaint about this room is that the stairs were kinda steep, so parents who are hoping to bring their young children over may have to practice some caution. I also thought that the lighting was a little dim for my liking, but I guess if you're here to bump uglies, that would be convenient.

The room also came with a desk, which on top of it had towels, a hairdryer, tissue paper, and an electric kettle. FYI, there are no tea or coffee-making facilities, and we were also not provided free WiFi. Things are just really basic here, and I'm fine with that!

There's also a safe, in case you want to keep your valuables inside.

The bathroom was actually fantastic, and there was a rain shower. To really experience the hotel in its entirety, I took the liberty of having a shower, and I swear, I stayed in there for an hour. You can make the water super hot, and the water pressure was strong too—just the way I like it.

I actually checked out an hour early because I wanted to grab dinner. The check-out process was basically me telling the staff at the lobby that I was done with the room, and that was it. I enjoyed the short stay, and I would honestly come back again. The stay was comfortable, I liked that I binged an entire season of friends while I was there, and I liked how the walls were relatively thick, which guarantees some level of privacy.

So whether you're looking for a place to just chill or cosy up with bae, I highly recommend using Dayuse. Their customer service is not the most efficient and they're not flexible at all when it comes to cancellations or postponing stay dates, so I highly suggest that you book a room that comes with free cancellation.

That's all for today's post, thanks for reading and see you next post!
