Cat cafes are aplenty in Singapore, but here's why you should visit this one. Gem Cat Cafe is a new cat cafe in Jalan Besar and unlike most cat cafes featuring a mix of breeds, Gem Cat Cafe exclusively houses six charming British Shorthairs. I'm a dog person, but I think these cats are absolutely adorbs.

If you're wondering what the fuss is about surrounding these British Shorthairs, it's because these fluffy darlings boast flat, round faces and endearing, sometimes grumpy expressions, making them irresistibly cute. They also look super blur, and that's even cuter.

Upon entry, guests are charged an entry fee of S$15 per person for one hour or S$25 for two hours, inclusive of a complimentary scoop of gelato. The cafe menu offers more than just kitty cuddles; indulge in delicious toast sandwiches with bolognese beef, chicken ham with scrambled eggs, or tuna mayo fillings, priced at S$6.50 each. You can also quench your thirst with their coffee or sodas.

The cafe's atmosphere is rather inviting too. It's decked out in a raw industrial aesthetic, featuring exposed concrete, wooden flooring, and warm lighting.

The cafe is divided into two sections, so the cats aren't overwhelmed by crowds. In the front section, you'll be greeted by a towering cat statue adorned in streetwear, while the back section is decorated with twinkling fairy lights and a leafy tree, offering picturesque settings for Instagram-worthy snapshots.

British Shorthairs are known for their affectionate nature, which means they're pretty friendly and don't mind being hugged. Guests can even pick up these lovable furballs for a hug, guided by proper holding techniques demonstrated by the friendly staff.

If you're shy around cats like me, you can play with them using the cat toys available. My friends and I actually had a full-on soccer session with the cats, and it was so fun to see them run around for the ball.

To ensure a purr-fect visit, Gem Cat Cafe recommends making reservations in advance to secure your time slot! I really enjoyed my time here and I do recommend it for cat or animal lovers!
