Hey, Faithfuls! Embroidery has always intrigued me, so when my friend and I stumbled upon Sage Artelier at Sin Ming Plaza, we decided to give it a shot. Priced at S$75 per person for a three-hour session, it seemed like the perfect introduction for an embroidery newbie like me.

The class was comprehensive, offering a great introduction to the art of embroidery. We learned various stitches, patterns, and techniques, with the instructor walking us through how to embellish our designs. Whether you're a complete beginner (like me) or someone with a bit of experience, this workshop caters to all skill levels. The best part? You just show up—everything you need is provided.

As someone who is very demure with my hands, I struggled at first, but the teacher was incredibly patient and offered helpful, tailored feedback throughout. The environment was relaxed and fun, perfect for a casual creative session. My friend and I could chat and laugh while working on our projects, and it was pretty amusing having two kids nearby, fully focused on their own art class while we adults tried to keep up!

The class starts with a design session, where you sketch out what you’d like to embroider. I made the rookie mistake of going big—honestly, it’s better to stick with smaller designs. The process is more time-consuming than it looks, and between learning the stitches and applying them, you really only have about two hours for the actual embroidery work.

I chose to embroider Cinnamoroll, and while it wasn’t the neatest stitching ever, I did use the techniques I learned in the first hour. Sadly, I didn’t finish in time, but the staff kindly let us take home the embroidery fabric, a snap frame, and all the string we needed to complete our work (minus the needles).

If you’re looking for a fun, low-pressure activity to do with friends or as a couple in Singapore, I’d definitely recommend Sage Artelier for a fun embroidery class in Singapore. They also have other art activities such as clay workshops, punching classes, glass painting and more!
