Hey, Faithfuls! I recently went for a medical appointment at Paragon Medical, and right at the lobby entrance there was a coffee stand offering FREE COFFEE by Sláinte by Olivia. I tried their coffee, posted it on social media, and a few weeks later, the restaurant invited me down for a tasting! I was really grateful for this.

Sláinte restaurant is located on the fourth floor of Paragon Mall. With cafe vibes by day and a whiskey bar by night, the restaurant's name, which means “cheers” in Irish, is pronounced as “slawn-che” and perfectly captures the inviting vibe of this dining destination.

The interior design is warm and cosy, with dim lighting that creates an intimate atmosphere, especially during the evening. Rich earthy tones dominate the space, giving it a relaxed yet refined feel. For those who prefer a lighter setting, the outdoor bar area offers natural lighting and a touch of greenery, making it a nice spot to take pictures!

During the day, Sláinte offers brunch staples like bagels, toasts, breakfast platters, and salads. As the sun sets, the menu transforms to include dishes like charcoal-grilled mains, hearty pasta, and indulgent desserts.

slainte-corn

One standout appetiser is the Grilled Corn (from S$11.80). Freshly charred corn is generously topped with smoky chipotle mayo and crumbled cotija cheese, evoking the flavours of Mexican street food. The dish strikes a delicious balance between creamy, tangy, and smoky elements.

slainte-pasta

The Truffle Chicken Alfredo (S$21.80) pasta is both hearty and surprisingly affordable, considering the restaurant's atas location. It features perfectly grilled chicken served atop pasta coated in a pink cream sauce that combines the richness of cream with a subtle tomato tang. I loved the addition of truffle, which I felt elevated the dish with its earthy aroma, while garlic and shredded cheese rounded out the flavours.

slainte-ayam-bakar

The Ayam Bakar (from S$24.80) is a star dish at Sláinte. I kid you not, this spatchcock chicken was grilled to perfection, resulting in tender, juicy meat with smoky charred edges. It was served with an aromatic spiced gravy and a surprising side of spiced watermelon.

For dessert, the Red Wine Poached Pears (S$18.80) delivered a sophisticated flavour profile. The poached pears, paired with creamy vanilla ice cream and a crunchy pistachio crumble, offer a somewhat off yet balanced (?) combination. Another must-try at Sláinte restaurant is the Wood-Fired Marshmallow (S$19.80), an interactive dessert where diners roast their own marshmallows at the table. The roasted marshmallows can be dipped into a rich chocolate ganache housed in a crisp vanilla tart shell, making for a fun and nostalgic end to the meal!

Sláinte also boasts a whiskey bar just outside the restaurant, where you can sip on a curated selection of fine whiskies while soaking in the lively mall atmosphere. I'm not a whiskey person, so I tried the Crème Brûlée Cappuccino (S$9), which, while on the pricier side, was quite good! The drink truly lives up to its name, delivering the creamy, caramelised essence of a crème brûlée in liquid form. It reminded me of Luckin Coffee’s rendition, though this version was less sweet and had a smoother, more milky finish.

For cocktails, we went with the Sláinte (S$25.50), aptly named after the restaurant itself. This elegant drink is a blend of baby Scotch, sweet vermouth, and Aperol, garnished with a cinnamon stick for a warming, aromatic twist. It was a balanced mix of sweet and bitter and was easy to drink.

If you're looking for an affordable restaurant in Orchard, I highly recommend Sláinte by Olivia! Prices are reasonable, the ambience is nice, it's in the heart of town, and the food is good. I'll be back for sure~

Thanks for reading, and see you next post!
