Hey, Faithfuls! If you're a matcha lover, you may have heard of TO:YOU Cafe or seen it on your feed. I came across this pet-friendly cafe by chance—my friend who lives in Kembangan told me about this new opening, and I happened to swing by on their very first day! I made a repeat visit last week with my friends who came all the way from Bukit Gombak and Hougang LOL.

What makes TO:YOU special is its vibe. Furparents will be pleased to know that the outdoor area is pet-friendly. While it’s not huge, the setup with campaign chairs and low tables gives it a chill, backyard feel. That said, Singapore heat is no joke, and I definitely prefer sitting indoors.

Inside, it’s a whole different world. Natural light floods the space through a large greenhouse-style glass ceiling, casting a glow on the hanging greenery. There’s a comfy corner with a sofa if you’re looking for something a bit more laid-back, or bar counter seating for those who want to people-watch. The main coffee counter is decked out in gorgeous teal hexagonal tiles, featuring a display of pastries made in-house.

One thing I really appreciate: all prices are nett! That means no sneaky service charges or GST tacked on at the end. I literally gasped when I paid just S$7 for my matcha latte—and that was for dine-in too.

Food-wise, I tried the Chicken Karaage Don (S$16), which was surprisingly filling. The karaage chunks were on the smaller side, and the portion leaned a little more rice-heavy than meat-heavy, but it did the job. Would I order it again? Maybe if I were starving.

More interesting was the Ume Shakshuka (S$18), TO:YOU’s creative take on the traditional shakshuka. Instead of going the classic tomato route, theirs comes with a spicy fermented plum sauce, slow-cooked eggs, and ricotta cheese, served alongside olive oil focaccia. It’s savoury, tangy, and creamy all in one bite.

Of course, no cafe visit is complete without dessert. I had to try their popular Matcha Lava (S$13) that I've literally been seeing everywhere. As I broke into the cake, a velvety matcha centre oozed out, melding into the bed of matcha ice cream below.

If you’re into something more classic, go for the Dark Matcha Brownie (S$4)—rich dark chocolate layered with smooth matcha ganache and a sprinkle of matcha crumble. It’s small but gao, dense, and pretty satisfying!

As for drinks, my Iced Matcha Latte (S$7) was smooth and easy to sip on, though it leaned a little milky and diluted for my personal taste. I wish it had a bit more matcha punch.

Do note: TO:YOU Cafe is a solid 15-minute walk from Kembangan MRT Station, and under the sun it can feel even longer. But would I come back? Yeah, once in a while. The vibes are perfect for spending a slow afternoon, the food is wallet-friendly, and the space is lovely for getting work done.

Thanks for reading, and see you next post!
