Moxie Review: Aesthetic Modern Mediterranean Cafe & Restaurant @ Outram Park
Hey, Faithfuls! I recently visited Moxie, a modern Mediterranean restaurant near Outram Park, and it honestly felt like stepping into a chic beach house somewhere in Bali. The entrance itself already sets the tone cos you enter via a more private walkway that leads up into the restaurant, and once you step inside, you’re greeted by a warm, airy space with lots of wood tones and rattan ceiling lamps.
The overall vibe is very “modern tropical”, relaxed yet refined, and perfect for date nights, celebrations, or slightly fancier group meals. Most of the people who were dining there seemed to be dining out with clients or business partners.
Moxie’s menu focuses on modern Mediterranean-inspired dishes designed mainly for sharing. It's like small plates, starters, and mains that work well when ordered as a spread for the table. They also offer lunch sets, which are a great way to try the restaurant without going all out.
There's the 2-Course Lunch Set (S$30++) with one starter and one main, as well as the 3-Course Lunch Set (S$38++), which comes with dessert. You can also opt for the Soup of the Day for an extra S$5++.
For starters, I had the Toasted Kabocha Salad, which came with pine nuts, citrus vinaigrette, pomegranate molasses and fresh greens. The quality of the greens stood out as they were super fresh and crisp, and the flavours were nicely balanced between sweet, tangy and nutty. It felt light but still satisfying.
For mains, I went with the Grilled Chicken with roasted baby carrots, cashew romesco and burnt red onion. The chicken was really well done, like tender, juicy, and nicely charred on the outside. The cashew romesco added a nutty, slightly smoky depth, and the roasted carrots were sweet and soft.
I also tried the mushroom soup, which was comforting and well-executed, with a rich, earthy flavour that didn’t feel too heavy.
Portion-wise, I’d say the servings are on the smaller side, which is pretty typical for restaurants in this category. After my meal, I was about 60% full. This makes Moxie more suitable for sharing multiple dishes with friends, or for those who enjoy a lighter, more refined dining experience. It’s definitely more of a “dine and enjoy the ambience” kind of place rather than somewhere you go when you’re starving.
I’d probably save this for slightly fancier occasions (or when I’m feeling less broke and more splurge-y), but it’s definitely a restaurant I’d come back to when I’m in the mood for modern Mediterranean flavours in a beautiful setting.
