Mother's Day is coming soon, and with Singapore under partial-lockdown, we can bet that online flower delivery services will be in full bloom!
I was trying to look for some flowers to gift, and was really disappointed because many online shops were selling bouquets at ridiculously expensive prices (sorry The Floral Atelier, I'm not attas enough for you...), while others had surcharges that cost almost as much as the bouquet itself.
After researching on Mother's Day flowers for over 2 hours, I realised that less-mainstream online shops usually sell their flowers at a much cheaper price - and the flowers are just as pretty! It's just a pity that they're less well-known, and people don't know about them. Many also offer free delivery with no surcharge for Mother's Day.
With that, here are 5 affordable flower deliveries for Mother's Day and Mother's Day Flowers Deals that Singaporeans should definitely support!
1. BloomThis - aesthetic, quality fresh and preserved flowers
I love BloomThis because their website is so simple, aesthetic, and easy to navigate. They don't have a wide crazy range of flowers to choose from, but their flowers are so beautiful.
BloomThis sells fresh, "On Demand Blooms" from $65, and I especially LOVE their flower boxes with the BloomThis logo. The flower arrangements are absolutely gorgeous.
They also sell "Everlasting Roses" from $65, and they're basically preserved roses with a lifespan from 2 years onwards. It's a great gift to show your everlasting love!
As you can see, they offer free shipping too. Flowers also come with a free standard card.
2. Little Flower Hut - most affordable of the bunch
Not if you're really tight on cash but still need to show momma some appreciation, Little Flower Hut would be the best choice for you. Browsing their website feels like you're shopping flowers on NTUC as they look very mass-produced as a whole, BUT if you really look at the flowers individually - they're beautiful.
Their bouquets start from $35, and with free shipping it's such a steal! They also have big bouquets with 99 roses, flower boxes, and orchids for sale.
I'm not really a fan of the large bouquets and their packaging, but their smaller flowers are very pretty.
3. Roses Only - literally, roses only
If you mom loves roses, this is the place for you! Like their name, Roses Only ONLY sells roses, and they're gorgeous! You can shop for roses according to the different colours, such as red, pastel pink, white cream, or even rainbow. Their most affordable flowers start from $39.95 - or if you have more cash to spare, get their Infinity Roses from $99.
You can also add a small gift to your Mother's Day bouquet, like chocolates (thankfully, not Ferrero Rocher), a teddy bear, scented candles, or a bottle of champagne.
Aside from free delivery (and free same day delivery), you can also enjoy 5% off your first purchase when you subscribe to Roses Only.
4. Floristique - a dozen options at affordable prices
Whether you're looking for flower boxes, flower baskets, fresh flowers, or surprise bouquets for Mother's Day, you'll find what you need here at Floristique. The most affordable option on their website would be the $35 Surprise Bouquets where you simply select a colour theme and the bouquet size, and they'll handle the rest.
I really appreciate how they categorise their flower bouquets according to price, starting from $40 all the way up to $100. It just makes shopping so much easier!
They also have extremely cheap Jumbo Bouquets that go at ONLY $100 - which is really, really affordable compared to many florists who sell them at $300++.
5. Happy Bunch - unique gift boxes
If you think flowers are too mainstream, get mother dearest a gift box instead! Happy Bunch's "Mum's Favourite Box" ($50) is a unique box filled with gifts that mom will love. The goodies inside include a Soothing White Tea & Ginger Candle by To Be Calm, Pampering Pink Himalayan Rose Soap Bar by Alletsoap, and Calming Rose Black Tea Tube by Kittea.
Of course, you can get flowers too, and Happy Bunch is even offering an early bird promotion with $10 off some of their flowers for Mother's Day.
On the other hand, the most affordable bouquet on their site would be their Signature Bunch ($40), but they no longer have delivery slots on 10 May itself.
There are also some other online florists who sell really nice flowers but unfortunately have a surcharge for Mother's Day. Obviously I'm not happy with that, because why would you do that when your flowers are already so expensive to begin with!
Anyway I don't want to shame these businesses, but I was really caught off guard when I added the beautiful bouquets to my cart and saw the total go up by a CRAZY amount. I admit that some of the shops did mention the surcharge on their sites, but customers may still miss out on it and be very disappointed when they see the price increase.
So I guess this is just to inform y'all about the sites with surcharges and take note of it if you still want to buy from them!
1. Windflower Florist
Windflower Florist is one of the more popular online florists out there, and their flowers are really beautiful - I'd dare say one of the nicest. However, do take note that they have a surcharge for deliveries from 9-11 May, and that they are only releasing delivery slots 2 days in advance due to manpower shortage.
I really liked their "Eternal Affection" which was originally priced at $65.90. After the surcharge, it cost a whopping NINETY-EIGHT DOLLARS AND EIGHTY FIVE CENTS, and after some discount (idek where it came from but ya) it became $88.96.
That's $23.06 extra WITH the discount, $32.95 without.
Now look, if I buy your outrageously expensive flowers for my mom they better make her 10 years younger or something.
*raging*
Anyway, yeah - nice flowers, ridiculous surcharge, and they're better options out there. Maybe you're better off getting their Gift Hampers instead, since they start from $33.
2. Flowers and Kisses
Flowers and Kisses have pretty decent flowers and have a wide range of options to choose from such as hand bouquets, envelope flowers, vases, and even soft toys.
While they offer free standard delivery, there is a $15 peak delivery charge on 9 and 10 May. On the other hand, they are offering a 10% early bird discount, and you can snag some pretty bouquets for as low as $45 at their limited flash sale.

Of course, there are so many other great flower businesses out there, but I don't have time to list them all. Many of them deserve more recognition, and I hope that we could support our local florists during this difficult time. On the other hand, we should also be smart consumers and not waste our money on high profile brands who want to take advantage of a special occasion!
