bali-things-to-do

Hey, Faithfuls! So I just came back from my trip to Bali, and hell, it was super awesome. I really had the time of my life eating, chilling at chio beach clubs, and living in the most gorgeous villas. Bali was the first country my boyfriend and visited together as a couple, so after travel restrictions loosened, we decided to go back and make even more memories.

Bali itinerary

This is not exactly an itinerary per se, but it will mention the villas we stayed at in Seminyak and Kuta, as well as the Canggu cafes, restaurants, and beach clubs we visited. My boyfriend and I are big foodies, which is why we spent most of our time in Bali eating.

Seminyak

Hotel in Seminyak

Our hotel in Seminyak is called The Tukad Villa, and we booked two nights at the One-bedroom Private Villa for ~S$130 per night. If traffic conditions are good, it takes about 30 minutes to reach the villa from the airport.

The air-conditioned villa features a private pool, outdoor kitchenette and dining area, and a tropical garden.

The bedroom itself is very cosy and is equipped with a flat-screen TV, a sofa and table, a huge wardrobe, a vanity area, and a safe. There's WiFi as well.

The bathroom is actually located outdoors and features a bathtub as well!

What to do in Seminyak

mades-warung-bali

We arrived in Bali pretty late at night, so after checking out, we decided to find somewhere to have dinner. There's this really popular Balinese restaurant called Made's Warung, and they have an outlet in Seminyak that opens until late.

Made's Warung is a unique restaurant because it looks like a house. There were dance performances happening while we were there, and it just felt like good vibes all around. Most importantly, the food was amazing.

mades-warung-satay

Made's Warung most popular dishes are the Gado-Gado (~S$4/Rp 4k), Sate Babi (~S$6/Rp 70k), and Nasi Campur Ayam To Too (~S$8/Rp 95k). We ordered all of them. The pork satay was so tender and flavourful—the texture of the meat did not feel like satay, but rather, those really juicy pork skewers.

A memorable restaurant we went to was Italian Way, which is located along a bustling street with terrible traffic. It didn't look like anything special, but the carbonara was fantastic! The pizzas were a bit under, though.

mano-beach-house-bali

We wanted to check out Potato Head Beach Club but could not enter because we needed a reservation, and there were just too many people that day! Potato Head is definitely one of the more touristy and more expensive beach clubs in Bali, so if you're looking for something more chill, you can visit Mano Beach House instead.

mano-beach-house-food

The food here was pretty good, and I loved their Mediterranean food. You can book the sofa seats in the courtyard or the beanbags on the deck lounge. There is no minimum spend except for bookings between 4pm to 7pm, which has a minimum spend of ~S$26 (Rp 300k) per person.

Seminyak also has a ton of beaches, so if you don't mind the crowds, feel free to check out these six main beaches: Double Six Beach, Batu Belig Beach, Berawa Beach, Kelan Beach, and Sanur Beach. The best thing is, they're all within walkable distance of each other.

There are also many places to go shopping in Seminyak. The main shopping street is at Jalan Raya, but you can find nice boutiques along Jalan Kayu Aya as well.

Canggu

We didn't book a hotel in Canggu as we would usually book a Grab Bike here from our villa. If I had known better, I would have just stayed in Canggu because this place is literally cafe haven.

Speaking of Grab Bikes, they are quite easy to get and are as cheap as ~S$3 for a 20-minute ride. It can be harder to get a ride at night, especially during the festive season, as most drivers stop taking bookings via the app and would just wait at the side of the road for potential riders. If you can't get a ride, be prepared to haggle and pay double the amount.

Cars are easy to book, but it's easier to get stuck in traffic. The roads are super narrow, too, so just stick to the bikes.

Also, please wear a helmet if the bike driver has one! Let's just be safe, okay?

What to do in Canggu

baro-bakery-food

As I said before, Canggu is cafe haven. We already had a list of cafes we wanted to visit before coming to Bali, and most of the unique ones were located here. Baro Bakery was one of the places we went to, and it's basically a bakery (duh) with amazing fluffy bread and pastries.

milk-and-madu-pizza

Another cafe is Milk & Madu, which is a popular brunch place with Aussie vibes. During our visit, we tried their pizzas, which were really delicious! They've also got butter croissants, sausage rolls, milkshakes, and milk tea.

revolver-cafe

We also visited Revolver Espresso, a cafe that's situated near a busy roundabout. The food here is decent but not the cheapest. We had the Eggs Benny (S$6/Rp 75k) and Lamb Ragu (~S$11/Rp 125k) for lunch.

penny-lane-interior

Another place that I really, really wanted to visit was Penny Lane, a super chio cafe that is every influencer wannabe's dream. Every corner is literally an aesthetic backdrop, and there's even a pool table where you can play.

penny-lane-cocktails

The menu is really comprehensive so we took some time to figure out what to order. If you need recommendations as to what to get, try the burgers and anything with truffle fries. Oh, try the cocktails too!

touche-bali-interior

While we were walking around Canggu, we also came across this unique-looking cafe called Touche. The cafe is small so they aren't a lot of seats, so we had to wait a while for a table. Plus, it's filled with White people on their laptops who've been there for hours with a finished cup of latte on their table. The staff are too nice to ask them to leave...

I ordered the Souffle Pancakes (~S$6/Rp 75k), which came with strawberries, almonds, and Nutella. The pancakes were super fluffy and worth the wait!

kilo-bali

One of our more memorable dinners was at Kilo, which is another famous restaurant in Bali. It's pretty atas-looking, but they won't turn you away if you're wearing slippers and shorts. We had the Black & White Prawn Raviolis (~S$14/Rp 155k) and Crab Croquette (~S$12/Rp 140k) to share. This was also one of our most expensive meals. I thought the food was good, but it wasn't spectacular. The portions are decent, though.

luma-duck

We also had dinner at Luma. Their popular mains are the Duck Breast (~S$18/Rp 210k) and Fettuccine (~S$10/Rp 110k). I liked the food here, although I do think the prices are on the higher side.

la-brisa-bali

In the beach club department, the most chio one, in my opinion, is La Brisa. There is a minimum spend of ~S$43 (Rp 500k) per person to enter the club. You can choose to sit near the swimming pool or at the tables overlooking the sea. We chose the latter because it was not as shaded, and we wanted to get a nice tan.

la-brisa-bali-pool

They don't serve mains, but there are sides such as fries and shisha.

If you want to get a workout in during your Bali holiday, there's a spin studio in Canggu called Zycle, with classes from S$7. If you aren't sure whose classes to go for, I recommend going for Christina's!

Kuta

Hotel in Kuta

18-suite-bali

During our stay in Kuta, we stayed in 18 Suite Villa Loft, which cost ~S$70 per night. The villa has a private pool and kitchenette but has a smaller outdoor compound compared to our villa in Seminyak.

18-suite-bali-interior

There's really nothing special about this villa, and it's basically just a place to stay. It's not the most well-maintained place either, but for the price, I won't complain. One good thing about it is the location, as it's situated near restaurants and pubs. We could also walk to Kuta Beach.

What to do in Kuta

There are a ton of things to do in Kuta, as it's very touristy. We spent new year's eve here, and my boyfriend wanted to celebrate in a club. We ended up joining the countdown party at LXXY Bali. I've been here before, and it's one of the better clubs, in my opinion. Like, the Zouk-level kind of clubs. Beware of the random men outside the clubs who try to sell you drugs though, LOL.

mari-beach-club

We spent most of our days in Kuta visiting beach clubs. Our favourite was Mari Beach Club. The views here were *chefs kiss* and the food was also *chefs kiss*.

mari-beach-club-food

Their poke bowls and fried rice were amazing! Do take note of their minimum spend.

santorini-greek-restaurant-bali-food

There's this Greek restaurant that my boyfriend and I love, and it's called Santorini Greek Restaurant. Honestly, I'm not sure if the food is authentic because I've never been to Greece—I will be going this year so stay tuned for that blog post!—but the food tastes really good. They have outlets in Seminyak, Canggu, and Kuta, but we've always gone to the one at Kuta.

Get the moussaka, kebab, and any eggplant dish!

bali-shopping

We didn't do much shopping in Kuta except to get some souvenirs at Kuta Art Market and Mal Bali Galeria.

Bali itinerary

Bali was so fun and honestly, a week was not enough. There are so many things to do and so many cafes to discover, and if I were to come back, I would stay for more than two weeks. If you're going to Bali soon, I hope you have as much fun as I did.

Thanks for reading, and see you next post!
