Hey friends! Yay, we can finally dine in fives again. I recently met up with one of my friends who always recommends really great Halal restaurants and cafes to eat at. We decided to visit Cherry & Oak, a restaurant that both of us have seen quite a lot on TikTok. Cherry & Oak is located at Farrer Park along Owen Road, and is best known for its smoked steaks, ribs, and rainbow sausages!

We met on a weekday and didn't make a reservation because we weren't sure what time we could meet exactly. But when I arrived around 6.30pm, the restaurant was still rather empty, although there were many reservations made for later that evening. I told them I didn't have a reservation, and the staff said the only available seats were the outdoor seats. I didn't mind so I sat there and waited for my friend to come.

I was given the menu and said that I would have to enter the restaurant the order. My friend was still on the way but we both knew what we wanted - the Brisket 250g (S$12) and Rainbow Sausages (S$16).

The food took about 10 minutes to arrive. When it came, I couldn't stop myself from drooling because it looked really good.

We immediately dug in. The brisket was so tender and felt like it melted in my mouth. It was well smoked also wasn't too heavy or fat. The BBQ sauce was superb and added stronger flavours to the meat. This dish also came with some mango salad which gave the dish hints of tanginess. I really liked the salad and even ate it on its own.

The nasi lemak bakar was also fragrant but it was on the lighter side without the strong creaminess that typical nasi lemak would have. I did appreciate that it was light because the meat's flavours were already on the stronger side.

The Rainbow Sausages are definitely a dish you do not want to miss ordering. While it was very affordable at S$16, the portion was very generous. These sausages are actually handmade and come with zero additives and colouring. They're also gluten-free.

The Rainbow Sausages came in four flavours - original, beetroot, spinach, and curry. I liked how you can really taste the difference in flavours. I loved the original one the most! We also liked the dipping sauce which gave a sweet and peppery taste.

As I write this, I can't help craving the brisket and sausages from Cherry & Oak. The food here is actually really good and the prices are very affordable. Most importantly, the portions were decent. The staff were also very friendly and attentive, so in total, I give my experience here five shining stars!

Farrer Park is quite out of the way for many of us who don't live in the area, but I do think you should travel here just to give Cherry & Oak a try. While we managed to get a seat as it was a weekday, you should still consider making a reservation just in case.

Thanks for reading, and see you next post.
