Japan IPL Express @ Bedok: IPL Honest Review

Hey friends! So some exciting news - I recently experienced my first-ever IPL session! I've known about IPL for a while now and I have friends who go for it, but I never got the chance to try. So recently Japan IPL Express opened a new outlet at Bedok Mall, and they engaged me for a sponsored review. I really did not know what to expect, but I went with an open mind!

Japan IPL Express does not require any bookings or appointments, so all I did was head up to the counter and get a queue ticket. I didn't even need to wait because I was there at an odd timing so there were no other customers in line. So I looked through the IPL services they had and there were lots of them from armpit hair removal, to Brazilian removal, and the typical ones like leg and arm hair removal. One immediately got my attention which was facial hair removal. So to be really honest I have always been insecure about my facial hair, and even though I'm thankful that I have thick eyebrows, it's not really glamorous to have other kinds of hair like upper lip hair, or those really thin strands jutting out from your forehead. Like, just no.

So I told them I wanted to go for the facial hair removal, and they talked me through the process, like how they would first need to do some light shaving before doing the IPL. They also told me that a 'full face' would take about 110 shots. A single shot costs S$1.98.

So I was ushered into the rooms and was told to lie on the bed while one of the staff went to prep for the treatment. Once she came back, she first helped to cleanse my face before shaving the hairs on my face. She was very gentle and soothing and explained the process to me each step of the way. After all that was done, she covered my eyes with some cloth (?) and proceeded to do the IPL. She also told me that I would feel some heat.

Honestly, I was very nervous because all these laser thingies scare the crap out of me, but surprisingly the process was very comfortable and painless. Yes, the red laser was pretty scary and very bright, but I trust that the staff knew what she was doing. The IPL was done in less than 10 minutes.

Once everything was done, I immediately touched my face gently and looked into the mirror. My face looked like it brightened up instantly. Most importantly, my upper lip hair was gone! All gone! My skin just looked fresher, and I was very happy with the results.

I appreciated how the whole process was very comfortable and quick and took less than 30 minutes! Once I was done, the staff walked me through the healing process, and I was advised not to do any sun tanning or heavy exercise as sweat may irritate my skin. I was also advised to come back in four weeks as the hair would definitely grow back. After all, removing all the hair for good is a long process. They did try to get me to purchase some things, like a first-timer promo or something, but I politely declined as I said I wanted to see how this would turn out. They didn't push me any further after that.

It's been about a week since and I love how smooth my skin is. I think the time when it's most apparent that my facial hair is gone is when I'm doing my skincare. I have a lot of fine hairs on my forehead and my skincare would often 'bubble up' when I rub the serum in and they get caught in the fine hairs, but now, there are no bubbles anymore. It's just so weird to see that my face is hairless! I'm also getting quite worried because I really believe that I'll be going for another IPL session really soon. Maybe not for the full face again, but just for the upper lip, which takes about 10 shots.

So yes, that was my IPL experience with Japan IPL Express. Really did not have high expectations at first but OMG I was blown away. I can confidently say that the staff will see me again very soon. If you want to try IPL out and just see what it's like, you can use my code QEIUYY to enjoy 20 free IPL shots at any outlet.

That's all for today's post, and I hope I managed to give you some insights as to how an IPL session is like. See you next post!
