Hey Faithfuls! I've been visiting Katong so often recently and found myself drawn to a fresh haunt in East Coast: Monk's Brew Club. It's often mistaken for a typical workspace, but it's actually a work-friendly cafe serving brunch fare, dinner, and cocktails.

The cafe boasts a minimalist industrial theme, reminiscent of a tech office, with vibrant splashes of green and pink accentuating its branding. Amidst the sleek decor, cosy sofas beckon patrons to unwind, while smaller tables cater to intimate gatherings. To add to the charm, there are toys available for children and playing mats for the little ones too!

Heading upstairs to the working space, I discovered a nice working-from-home space, priced at S$20 per day. This package includes a complimentary coffee of your choice, making it a super good deal. The space offers ample seating, charging ports, and even meeting rooms.

Food is only permitted on the first level. We tried the Falafel Fusion Burger (S$22)—a huge meatless burger featuring a fresh falafel patty, grilled basil oregano, paneer cottage cheese, and a medley of other flavourful ingredients. It's served on a house-made brioche bun, served with a side of fries or salad. We opted for the fries, and it was a good choice because the seasoning was so umami and delicious.

If you're here for dinner, you can try the Heavenly Halibut (S$30)—pan-seared halibut that quite literally melted in the mouth. Accompanied by a dashi broth, this dish was one of my favourites. It also comes with Japanese fried leek, confit zucchini, and charred Brussels sprouts (which, I must admit, were slightly bitter for my taste), as well as tender mushrooms.

We also had the Confit De Canard (S$30), comprising crispy duck confit with honey orange glaze. The crispy skin had a nice layer of fat, and while some parts of the duck leaned towards the drier side, they were redeemed by tender and flavourful sections. The honey orange glaze infused the dish with a refreshing citrusy note, adding depth to its already rich flavour profile. The duck is accompanied by haricot beans, butter mash, and dried cherry tomatoes.

To end our meal on a sweet note, we ordered the "Tireme-Su" (S$15), which is a deconstructed tiramisu with a modern twist. Boozy with rum and delightfully soft, this dessert was really addictive.

Monk's Brew Club also served coffee-infused cocktails. My personal favourite was the Eye Opener (S$20), made with coffee-infused rum and coffee syrup. Otherwise, you can try the Wise Man's Whisky (S$18), which is their spin on the classic Manhattan.

This is indeed one of the better cafes I've visited, thanks to their hearty portions and delicious AF food. Prices can be steep but do note that they're in nett.

That's all for today's review; thanks for reading and see you next post!
