Hey, Faithfuls! Recently, I was craving dessert with my cousin and sister, and since my sis stays in hall at NUS, we wanted to find a dessert spot nearby. We stumbled upon After Hours Gelato a cosy little place along West Coast Highway known for their gelato, waffles, and most recently, their viral churros mochi waffles!

They’ve got some pretty unique ice cream flavours, too, like Soy Bean Milk w Dough Fritters, Butterbeer, Milky Honeycomb, Strawberry Basil, and Cold Brew Coffee. Pricing’s not too bad: S$5 for a scoop, S$9 for a double, with a S$1 top-up for premium flavours.

Of course, I had to try the newest addition to their menu—the Churros Mochi Waffle (S$8.50). It’s got that chewy mochi texture with a crispy exterior coated in fragrant cinnamon sugar. I paired mine with the Strawberry Basil ice cream, and OMG, the ice cream was such a refreshing combo of sweet and tangy, with a subtle hint of herbiness from the basil. The fruity, bright notes of the ice cream cut through the richness of the waffle so well!

My cousin went for their regular Mochi Waffle (S$8), which is less sweet compared to the churros version. It’s great if you’re trying to cut down on sugar but still want that chewy, satisfying waffle. She paired it with the Milky Honeycomb ice cream, which was creamy with a nice balance of milky sweetness and crunchy bits of honeycomb. The waffle’s chewiness paired beautifully with the ice cream’s smooth texture and added crunch from the honeycomb. Definitely another great combo.

Do note that they don’t serve free water, and it’s S$0.50 for a glass. Also, seats are quite limited, so it’s better suited for small groups. The place is super Instagrammable, though, and if you’re going on a weekday night, be prepared for a crowd! We got there around 10pm, and it was packed with NUS students. We waited about 20 minutes for a table, so coming after 11pm might be a better option if you want to skip the wait.

Overall, After Hours Gelato is definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re around the NUS area and craving a late-night treat. Their mochi waffles are a standout, and the variety of unique ice cream flavours makes it a fun spot to experiment with different combos. Just be prepared for the crowd and maybe bring your own water to avoid the extra cost. Despite the wait, I’d say it’s a great place to satisfy those dessert cravings, and I’ll definitely be back for more!

Thanks for reading, and see you next post~
