Hey, Faithfuls! If you find yourself wandering around the vibrant streets of Chinatown, you’ve got to check out September Coffee. This cosy spot has been around for over two years, and despite the time, it's still drawing in the crowds with waiting times that can go up to 90 minutes. But trust me, it’s worth the wait.

FYI, they're the same folks behind June Coffee, the popular cafe in Joo Chiat!

September Coffee is a spacious, airy cafe that caters to everyone—whether you’re there for a solo coffee break, a date, or a meal with the whole family. The atmosphere is super chill, with potted plants and wooden furniture that add a touch of nature to the minimalist space. Plus, the dreamy tunes playing in the background and natural light streaming in make it the perfect spot for snapping those Instagram-worthy shots or just catching up with friends.

However, I do wish the tables were spaced a bit further apart. It’s hard not to feel like you’re accidentally eavesdropping on other people's conversations, especially since we Singaporeans tend to talk pretty loudly!

We kicked off our meal with a plate of Truffle Tater Tots (S$8), and the portion was BIG—definitely value for money. The aroma of the truffle was immediately noticeable and wonderfully fragrant. Each tot was incredibly crunchy, staying crispy throughout our entire 1.5-hour meal. They were so deliciously crispy that you might even end up with that familiar sore throat that comes from indulging in too many fried goodies, but honestly, that’s how you know it’s good!

Next up, we went for the Hearty Brekkie (S$24), which is exactly what it sounds like—hearty and satisfying. This simple yet comforting dish features brioche French toast served with tater tots, mixed greens, and mushrooms. We chose scrambled eggs as our protein, and they were perfectly fluffy and rich. It’s the kind of breakfast that warms your soul—a no-fuss meal but one that leaves you feeling content.

We also tried the Rosé Udon (S$20), a unique dish that combines thick, chewy udon noodles with a creamy gochujang sauce, pickled shallots, and crunchy karaage on top. The sauce was incredibly creamy, with just a hint of sweetness, and while it wasn’t particularly spicy (coming from someone with low spice tolerance), it was still a deliciously rich and flavorful pasta dish. The combination of textures from the udon and karaage was spot on.

For drinks, we had the Einspanner (S$7) made with black coffee and non-dairy cream. The coffee had a robust, slightly bitter taste that paired beautifully with the smooth, velvety cream. The contrast between the bold coffee and the rich cream made for a drink that was both indulgent and energizing.

I also tried the Iced Matcha Strawberry Latte (S$8), which I was pretty excited about. The flavours were milder than expected, with the strawberry taste being quite subtle—mostly, I tasted the milk. It was refreshing, but I would have loved it if the strawberry flavour had been a bit more pronounced.

September Coffee never disappoints when it comes to food. The prices are what you’d expect for a cafe, and it’s definitely a place I’d return to if I’m in the area. The queue system is also super convenient—you can scan the QR code, take a queue number, and then stroll around Chinatown while you wait, so the wait doesn’t feel too bad. If you haven’t tried September Coffee yet, I highly recommend giving it a go!
