Located in what I can only describe as an ulu industrial area, finding the salon was an experience in itself. I underestimated the time it would take to get there since I live in the east, and ended up being about 30 minutes late. Despite this, the staff were incredibly understanding and accommodating—big kudos to them for that.

Once I got to Northstar@AMK, I found an obscure lift lobby, rode up to the eighth floor, and spotted the studio easily around a corner.

While I waited for my turn (since they were still attending to another customer), I settled onto a big comfy sofa, sipping water and enjoying some snacks while browsing through nail colours—thanks to their free WiFi, time flew by!

I decided to go for a cat-eye vibe with some nail art. The manicure I chose was the Classic Gel Manicure (S$50), which includes cut, buff, shaping, cuticle care, gel polish, cuticle oil, and a light massage. They also have an Express Gel Manicure for S$32 if you're in a hurry.

Nail art is a top-up from S$2, and charms can be added for between S$2 and S$8.

The nail tech was super friendly, making sure I liked the colours and designs as she worked meticulously on my nails. It was a really relaxing atmosphere, and I even got to watch YouTube travel vlogs on a big screen while my nails were being done.

Next up were my lashes. I opted for the 4D Lash Extension (S$88). Honestly, I fell asleep during the application—a testament to how comfortable it was! 

The staff were also very attentive, asking for my preferences regarding lash style. I appreciated that they advised me on length, as I mentioned my concern about the lashes being too long since I wear glasses.

I tend to have super sensitive eyes, and I teared up a bit when they applied the lash glue. They were patient and made sure I was comfortable, carefully drying my eyes before continuing. This resulted in beautifully fluffy lashes—soft and natural but definitely noticeable. Despite my initial worries, they were comfortable even with my glasses.

All in all, the session took about 3.5 hours, and by the time I was out, the sun was already setting. Despite the long journey from Simei, I wouldn't mind returning. Prices are on the steeper side for sure, but the quality is worth it.

Besides manicures and eyelash extensions, The Beauty Ritual also offers facials, hair removal, and even lip embroidery. If you live in the north or northeast, it’s worth checking them out. The nearest MRT stations are Buangkok, Hougang, or Yio Chu Kang.
