Hey, Faithfuls! ToMo Cafe recently expanded with a new outlet at Upper Thomson, an area that used to be my stomping ground. With so many new Upper Thomson cafes, I knew I had to drop by and check it out. It’s exciting to see the neighbourhood evolving so much!

This new ToMo Cafe sits where Knockhouse Cafe used to be, and it’s got all the glasshouse vibes—loads of natural sunlight flooding in, the signature green colour theme, and plenty of plants scattered around, bringing a touch of the outdoors inside.

The space feels airy and open, and I love how the tables are well-spaced, which gives you a bit of privacy while you dine.

The menu is pretty extensive, with this outlet introducing burgers and donburi in their offerings! We honestly had a hard time deciding what food to get.

We decided to go with the Pastrami Don (S$21), recommended by the staff. It’s a bowl with tender slices of pastrami, topped with a perfectly gooey sous vide egg. The pastrami was a tad salty for me, but I really appreciated how generous the portion was—it didn’t feel like they skimped at all. Just a heads-up, ToMo has a limited number of servings for all their pastrami dishes each day, so you might want to get there early if you’re in the mood for it.

Another highlight was ToMo’s Premium Hamburg (S$30), a burger done really well. It came loaded with truffle mayo, scrambled egg, caramelised onions, onion rings, and nacho cheese—all sandwiched between buttery brioche buns. The buns had a touch of wok hei, which oddly enough reminded me of char kway teow. The patty itself was soft and juicy, and although it was a bit of a messy eat, it was so worth it. I found myself licking my fingers after every bite—it was that good!

For dessert, we tried the Homemade Tiramisu (S$9). We opted out of alcohol, and it turned out to be incredibly light and fluffy. It was like sinking a spoon into a soft, pillowy cloud—delicate and oh-so-satisfying.

As for drinks, I went for the Bisukofu Brew Cloud (S$8), which was like drinking a dessert. It’s an espresso-based drink topped with sweet, biscoff-flavoured cream, and it tasted just like Lotus Biscoff—sweet and earthy. It was a bit on the sweeter side but still enjoyable. I much preferred the Iced Goma Cloud Latte (S$9). Super creamy, with a nutty sesame flavour, though I wish it had a bit more of that deep earthiness that I love in goma.

And then there’s my absolute favourite—Iced Matcha Strawberry Cloud Latte (S$8). I’m a sucker for strawberry matcha lattes, and I was so happy to find it on the menu here. This one had a layer of homemade strawberry cream, giving it that extra indulgence. The matcha itself was grassy and earthy, balanced by the sweetness of the strawberry cream. I did wish the strawberry was a bit more tart, but overall, it was still lovely. Stirring the layers together made for such a pretty drink, and the blend of flavours was just perfect.

ToMo Cafe also has outlets at Joo Chiat and Neil Road, but I'll be coming back to Upper Thomson for their exclusive burger and donburi. And no matter the location, I'll definitely be back for that matcha strawberry drink—it's just too good to pass up!

Thanks for reading, and see you next post!
