Hey, Faithfuls! If you’ve been following my blog or content for a while, you’ll know how much I love Katong—it’s hands down my favourite neighbourhood in Singapore. There’s always so much to see, do, and eat! Every time I pass by, I notice this hotel called Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong, and I’ve always wanted to stay there. It seems like the gods finally heard my prayers because I got to spend a night there last weekend as part of their Festive Room Stay package.

If you’re driving, park at Katong Square and take the lift down to the hotel lobby. Alternatively, take public transport—Marine Parade MRT Station is just a 10-minute walk away. You can’t miss the hotel entrance with its lush, green plant wall.

I arrived slightly early (about 20 minutes before the 3pm check-in time) but was pleasantly surprised to be able to check in early since my room was ready.

They even handed me a welcome drink, which was highly appreciated considering how sweltering the Singapore heat is.

Priced at S$388++ per night, the Festive Room Stay package comes with a complimentary upgrade to their Standard Room With Heritage View. If you love boutique hotels with carefully curated decor, you’ll adore this room. The doors to the room are decorated with Peranakan-style motifs, something that I've never seen on regular hotel room doors before.

From the moment I stepped inside my room, I was greeted by vibrant colours and design elements inspired by Katong’s rich cultural heritage.

The Peranakan-inspired patterns were everywhere—in the bed’s headboard, the shower tiles, and even the lamp shades. But the room also had sleek, modern touches like black accents in the bathroom. The mix of old and new was done so tastefully, and most importantly, the room felt spacious and welcoming. There’s a cosy little “living room” area, complete with a plush pink sofa that looks like it came straight out of an old Singaporean movie.

carrom-board-table

The highlight here is the carrom board-style coffee table that’s not just decorative—you can actually play carrom on it!

On the table sat a full bottle of wine, which was part of the staycation package.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I had one of my best sleeps of 2024. Seriously, the pillows, the duvet—everything was just perfect. In front of the bed was a mounted TV with plenty of channels to browse through. The bedside tables were well-equipped with power outlets, a phone, a clock, and convenient wall-mounted light switches.

The minibar was cleverly designed as a glass display cabinet featuring coffee and tea-making facilities.

The tea was from TWG, and the coffee was from Bacha Coffee. The mugs were styled like old-school kopi cups with a rooster motif! They even provided local snacks, like White Rabbit candy, in small tubs.

There are also drinks stocked up in the mini fridge. You have to pay to enjoy them, though.

chinese-clogs

Beside this minibar was a pair of Chinese Clogs, and though they were just decorative, they added a nice nostalgic touch to the room.

Next to that minibar and near the door is a large cupboard. It's stocked with everything you need, including handers, an ironing board and iron, a hairdryer, a safe, bathrobes, and room slippers.

The bathroom was probably the prettiest hotel bathroom I’ve ever seen.

With large windows overlooking the Katong neighbourhood, it felt so luxurious.

The vanity was designed like an old retro sewing machine table, and there were quirky touches everywhere—a chamber pot (purely decorative, I think), and a vintage string chair.

There's even the iconic “Good Morning” towel in a wash basin!

shower-amenities

Of course, the bathroom has all the things you need, including a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, rinsing cups, and a vanity kit.

The shower came with both a rain shower and a handheld showerhead, and the toiletries were from Biology Skin, which added a pop of colour to the space.

drinking-water

They don’t provide bottled water here—instead, the sink is fitted with a drinking water dispenser. If you need extra water, there’s also a water cooler in the lobby!

FYI, the toilet is located in a separate room, near the main door and opposite the cupboard. This is great because if my partner takes super long to poop, I can still shower without having to wait for him to finish his business...

hotel-indigo-singapore-katong-pool

If you’re looking to relax, the rooftop swimming pool is a must. You can swim laps or lounge by the pool on deck chairs.

Next to the pool is a bar where you can grab drinks, a cocktail, or a beer—it seems like a popular spot for to unwind in the evenings.

The gym on the same floor is decently sized, with basic equipment like treadmills, weights, and exercise bikes.

On the ground floor, the Pavilion offers a chill space for working or relaxing. It’s part lounge, part retail, with heritage-inspired decor and even items from local businesses that you can purchase.

baba-chews

The Festive Room Stay package also includes a three-course dinner for two at either Baba Chews or Rooftop 88. Since it was raining, we opted for Baba Chews. Dinner included an appetiser, a main, and a dessert, plus a festive cocktail of our choice.

The Turkey Roulade appetiser was okay, but the mains were the real stars. The Gochujang Pork Ribs were tender and flavourful, while the Miso Lemongrass Salmon was equally delicious. Desserts and cocktails didn’t disappoint either—sweet, punchy, and satisfying.

baba-chews-breakfast-buffet

The package also includes breakfast for two at Baba Chews, served from 6:30am to 10:30am. It’s a mix of a continental buffet and a la carte options.

I went for the Eggs Benedict, which was a decent choice.

The buffet spread was surprisingly large, with everything from pastries and cereal to local favourites like fish noodle soup. They even had childhood snacks!

This staycation was easily one of my favourites in 2024. The room was unique—more than just a place to sleep, it felt like a showcase of Katong’s rich heritage. The location is unbeatable, with plenty of cafes and restaurants within walking distance, plus the nearby i12 Katong mall.

The staff deserve a shoutout, too—they were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. From the warm greetings in the lobby to answering all my queries, they really made me feel welcome!

If you’re looking to book this festive stay, you'll have to book between now and 30 December 2024 (at least two days in advance) for stays between now and 30 December 2024. The rate is S$388++ per night, inclusive of dinner, breakfast, a bottle of wine, and late checkout at 2pm.

Bookings are non-refundable and require pre-payment. To book, email resvn.sinki@ihg.com.

I genuinely wish I could have stayed for two nights—there was so much to enjoy! If you’re looking for a staycation that blends culture, comfort, and good food, Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong is an excellent choice. Maybe I'm biased because I love the East so much, but I do believe you'll love staying at Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong as much as I did.
