Hello Arigato Review: Thick Sandos & Strawberry Matcha Latte @ Upper Thomson
Hey, Faithfuls! So, if you’re a fan of thick, hearty sandos and Instagram-worthy cafe vibes, Hello Arigato is a must-visit. It's just a five-minute walk from Upper Thomson MRT Station. This cafe is known for its Japanese-inspired menu and warm Scandinavian interiors. With both indoor and outdoor seating, it’s a pretty good spot for a laid-back brunch.
My sister and I made a last-minute decision to have dinner at Hello Arigato on a Saturday afternoon. Unsurprisingly, the indoor seating was fully booked, but we happily opted for an outdoor table, as it was pretty cool that day. The Scandinavian-inspired interiors, complete with wooden accents and minimalist design, make it an inviting space for both food and photos, but it can get a bit dim indoors.
I tried their Tamago Sando (S$14), which is a vegetarian-friendly sando. It had layers of Japanese egg mayo, tamagoyaki, and an ajitama egg, all encased in soft, fluffy Japanese milk bread. The toast’s light crispness perfectly complements the creamy, subtly sweet egg fillings.
My sister tried the Spam & Egg Sando (S$16), which is a comfort food classic elevated with a Japanese twist. It has a thick slab of spam katsu paired with a dashi omelette, melted American cheddar, and spiced tomato jam.
For drinks, I had the Strawberry Matcha Cloud (S$6). It was a nice drink to end the meal; this layered creation combines strawberry milk with a cold Uji matcha foam. The fruity sweetness of the strawberry blended quite well with the earthy bitterness of the matcha, creating a refreshing balance that wasn't overly sweet.
If you're planning to visit Hello Arigato at Upper Thomson, I recommend making a reservation, especially during peak hours.
