Hey, Faithfuls! Kobashi Bakery has been one of my favourite bakeries for a while now, and I was surprised to realise I never wrote a review for them! I first discovered them back in 2022 when they were still operating as an online bakery, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Now, with their first physical dine-in outlet—Coffeehouse by Kobashi, it’s even easier to enjoy their incredible bakes.

I’ve been going down as early as 10:30am on weekends just to get my hands on their sourdough bakes. The place tends to fill up quickly, and when I visited, there was already a line of people waiting for seats. Some eventually opted for takeaway because they couldn't get a table

focaccia

Kobashi's savoury bakes are absolutely delicious. Like, THEY ARE THE BEST. Their Honey Brie Pesto Sourdough Focaccia (S$14) was seriously amazing. The sourdough base had a crisp, golden crust with a chewy interior, and the honey added a delicate sweetness that paired beautifully with the creamy brie. The pesto provided a savoury, herbaceous contrast, making every bite a perfect balance of sweet, salty, and umami flavours.

Of course, I couldn’t leave without trying their famous sourdough doughnuts, or as they call them, Sourdo’nuts. I had the yuzu-flavoured one, and it pretty good. The cream was light but carried a bright, citrusy yuzu flavour that was refreshing without being overpowering. The doughnut itself was quite hefty since it was generously filled, but the texture remained fluffy and chewy.

For drinks, I highly recommend the Matcha Strawberry (S$8.50). It’s a creamy blend of matcha and real strawberry bits, with just the right amount of natural sweetness from the fruit. The matcha itself had a slight bitterness with grassy undertones, making for a well-balanced drink that wasn’t too sweet or too earthy—just right.

My friend ordered the Honey Coffee Milk Foam (S$7), and it was another standout. The coffee was smooth, and the honey added a subtle sweetness without overpowering the drink. The milk foam was incredibly creamy, reminding me of the ones from Hellu Coffee, but with a slightly lighter consistency.

Overall, Coffeehouse by Kobashi continues to impress with their well-executed bakes and drinks. Whether you’re into savoury sourdough creations or indulgent pastries, this place is definitely worth a visit—just be prepared to queue!

Thanks for reading, and see you next post!
