Hey, Faithfuls! I recently got invited to check out this restaurant that’s been making waves all over social media—True Cost. The buzz is that they serve restaurant-quality dishes at a fraction of the usual price, and of course, I had to see what the hype was about!

True Cost is located at the Sky Garden of Suntec City, a stunning rooftop spot with glasshouse-like interiors that are just perfect for the 'gram. Think lots of natural light, rustic garden vibes, and gorgeous city views that make for a really dreamy dining experience.

Now, here’s the twist: there's a cover charge to dine here, which ranges from S$5 to S$15 depending on the time of day. This fee gives you access to their menu, which offers high-quality dishes at much lower prices than you’d expect. But, if you pop by between 3pm to 5pm on weekdays or from 9pm to 10pm, you can skip the cover charge altogether—free entry!

The menu is quite extensive, featuring a mix of European, Mediterranean, and Japanese influences. We opted for the Mediterranean-inspired selections during our visit.

We started with the Octopus Carpaccio, which was an absolute flavour bomb. It came with an orange dressing, tahini, sundried tomatoes, and za’atar. The combination was so umami, and the sundried tomatoes added a burst of juicy sweetness that balanced perfectly with the zesty, slightly sour sauce. My mouth is watering just thinking about it again!

Next up was the Tirokafteri Spicy Feta Dip, which featured creamy feta cheese drizzled with paprika oil and topped with crunchy pecans. The feta was rich and tangy with a nice kick from the paprika, making it a perfect dip for their fresh bread. Each bite was a delightful mix of creaminess and spice, with the pecans adding a satisfying crunch.

For the mains, we tried the Beef Cheek and a pasta dish. The pasta was tasty, though I do wish the portion was a bit more generous. As for the Beef Cheek, it was absolutely divine—super tender, it practically melted in my mouth. The meat was flavourful, with a deep, rich taste that had been perfectly cooked to be fork-tender.

We ended the meal with the Baklava Sundae, which was a fun and interesting dessert. It featured sunflower seed mousse, pistachio ice cream, and cherry syrup. The pistachio ice cream was delicious, even though it leaned a bit on the sweeter side. Unlike the mains, the dessert portion was quite generous, which was a pleasant surprise.

Overall, I was really impressed with the food—every dish we tried was superb, especially given the price point. The service, however, was a bit hit or miss. While most of the staff were friendly and attentive, there was one who was pretty unhelpful when we were trying to figure out the ordering process. It’s not the most straightforward concept, so naturally, we had some questions, but the lack of assistance was a bit of a bummer.

Despite that, we had a great night, and I’d definitely come back again. The quality of the food and the unique dining concept make True Cost worth a visit—just maybe brush up on how the ordering system works before you go!
